Maple Leafs vs Kraken Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Toronto Delivers on Offense

William Nylander and Auston Matthews each have a hot stick, which is bad news for a Kraken squad that has thrown out the anchor ahead of this meeting with the Maple Leafs, per our NHL betting picks.

We’ve got six games on the NHL betting slate tonight, including a matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Seattle Kraken.

The NHL odds suggest we’ll see a low-scoring game, but recent trends suggest we may be hearing the goal horn more often than the oddsmakers think, leaving good value on the board in tonight’s game.

Find out why in my free NHL picks for this Maple Leafs vs. Kraken matchup on Sunday, January 21.

Maple Leafs vs Kraken predictions

Both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Seattle Kraken enter tonight’s game on a losing note. The Leafs gave up six goals last night to the Canucks in a 6-4 loss. As for the Kraken, they’ve hit a skid of late, losing three in a row after a seven-game winning streak coming out of the Christmas break.

When the Kraken were winning it was on the back of some stellar goaltending play, where five of the seven wins saw the Kraken give up just one goal or less. However, the bubble seems to be bursting in net. Seattle has given up four or more goals in three of their last four games while giving up a higher number of shots per game than their nightly average.

Here’s a spot where the Leafs can take advantage, as the team total for Toronto is set at 3.5 goals and you can get the Over at +115 odds at Sports Interaction.

The Maple Leafs have fared well matching up against this Kraken team since they came into the league back in 2021. Toronto is 4-1 all-time against Seattle, outscoring them 22-15 with an average of 4.4 goals per game, and I expect that trend to continue tonight.

The Leafs average 3.5 goals on the season and have been able to go Over that number in back-to-back games on this road trip. Despite the loss to Vancouver last night, Toronto was still able to generate 46 shots on net against a solid defensive team. Given the fact that Seattle is averaging north of 30 shots allowed per game (32.4) over their last 10 contests, that should allow the Leafs to get enough looks to generate some offense and find the back of the net four times for a third straight game.

This goes double after seeing William Nylander break out of his scoring slump with a pair of goals last night to go along with a tally from a blue liner. Add in the league’s scoring leader, Auston Matthews (37 goals), and there are plenty of reasons to expect a barrage of Leafs goals tonight.

My best bet: Maple Leafs team total Over 3.5 (+115 at Sports Interaction)

Maple Leafs vs Kraken same-game parlay

Maple Leafs team total Over 3.5

Auston Matthews anytime goal

Over 5.5

For Leg 1 of my same-game parlay, we’ll take my best bet of the Leafs to go Over their team total of 3.5 goals.

Next up, I like the Auston Matthews odds for him to score one of the goals. He’s the NHL’s leading goal-scorer with 37 tallies on the year and has five goals in five career meetings against the Kraken.

For my final leg, let’s roll with the Over on the alternate total of 5.5 goals. We’re already banking on the Leafs to net four or more, and with Ilya Samsonov’s 3.88 GAA in net for the Buds tonight, there’s a good chance we see the Kraken put at least two by him.

Maple Leafs vs Kraken moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Maple Leafs come into tonight as the favorites at -120 odds, with the Kraken entering as even-money underdogs. Toronto is 4-1 all-time against Seattle and will be hoping to end the road trip with a 2-2 split. Plus, they could be playing for their coach's job at this point.

The total for tonight’s game is sitting at 6 goals, with the favored side being the Over at -120. The Under is offering even-money odds.

I do like the Over in this game. Historically, these teams have combined for six or more goals in all five of their meetings, and I don’t think Samsonov and Joey Daccord are scary enough in goal to think that trend won't continue.
