Oilers vs Panthers Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Oil Not Slick Enough on Road

The Oilers are always potent on offense with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, but their own inability to stop goals is their undoing. See why our NHL picks are backing the Panthers to pounce on a weak resistance.

This season appears to be the same old story for the Edmonton Oilers. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are carrying the team, but the goaltending hasn’t been close to good enough.

The Florida Panthers aren’t the same team that they were last season and they might be dealing with some health issues right now, but they are finding ways to win and they enter this game winning four out of their last five games.

The Panthers have been very good on home ice early on this season and their star defenseman, Aaron Ekblad is set to return to the lineup. See why I’m backing this fire-up group with Saturday, November 13’s NHL picks and predictions for Oilers vs. Panthers.

Oilers vs Panthers best odds

Oilers vs Panthers picks and predictions

The Panthers were going through a little bit of adversity lately, missing Matthew Tkachuk due to suspension and having Aaron Ekblad injured, but even with that, they have won their last three games in a row.

The Panthers are going to be a very tough test for the Edmonton Oilers, who aren’t the most sound defensively. Florida is generating the most shots on goal per game in the league and they lead the way in chances for per game. Edmonton hasn’t named a starting goaltender yet, I think it will be Stuart Skinner since he has been better than Jack Campbell thus far.

Skinner enters the game with a 2-3-0 record, while sporting a .928 SV% and a 2.62 GAA to go with his +3.4 GSAx. Campbell’s numbers have not been very good in comparison to Skinner’s, despite his winning record of 6-4-0, he has a .873 SV% and a 4.27 GAA. It’s a tale as old as time, the goaltending is the Oilers’ weak link.

The Oilers will be playing their fourth game in six nights, while the Panthers have only played one game in the last six days.

Florida is well rested and has the edge in goaltending with Spencer Knight as its starter today. The Panthers can keep up with the pace of McDavid and Draisaitl, and with Ekblad back, I like their chances even more. I don’t trust the Oilers’ goaltending whatsoever — I like the Panthers to win this one in regulation.

My best bet: Florida Panthers 3-way (-115 at BetMGM)

Oilers vs Panthers moneyline analysis

I know that going up against Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl can be scary, but the Panthers have some gifted guys as well. Tkachuk has been outstanding, along with Carter Verhaeghe and of course, Aleksander Barkov. They might be among the most underrated players in the NHL.

The Oilers have been traveling quite a bit, playing their last three games on the road and skating to a 1-2-0 record in those games. In this span, they’ve allowed a disastrous 14 goals against, and rank 28th  in GAA on the season.

Florida’s offense should be able to generate a ton of chances today and have some success. The Panthers have a 56.22% expected goals and are putting up 40.1 shots on goal per game. It’s going to be a very tough test for the Oilers blue line and I am not quite sure that they can slow the Panthers down.

Oilers vs Panthers Over/Under analysis

Both of these teams have a lot of offensive weapons, but in their previous matchups, the Under happens to be a trend, going 2-0-2 in the last four meetings in Florida.

Spencer Knight is going to be a problem for the Oilers, who will be missing one of their better goal-scorers, Evander Kane, due to injury. The Panthers have only allowed six goals in their last three games, and they’re coming off a shutout performance.

If Jack Campbell gets the nod for the Oilers, then the Over might be a little more enticing, but with Stuart Skinner as the expected starter, I think he will put up a better fight in the blue paint.

I happen to think that 7 is just too high of a number for two competitive teams, I like the Under in this game but it’s definitely going to be a sweat.
