It’s time to renew the rivalry as the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Florida Panthers tonight in what could be a first-round matchup later this month.

These teams are slated to play each other in Round 1, but home ice is still up for grabs with Florida losing six of its last eight games. Meanwhile, the Leafs have been playing well despite all the injuries to the roster. 

One line in particular that seems to be building some chemistry is the top line with Auston Matthews, Max Domi, and Tyler Bertuzzi, who’ve combined for 25 points over their last eight games. That trio is scoring 6.69 goals per 60 minutes and has a 65% expected goal mark on the season, according to MoneyPuck.com. 

Matthews has led the way so far with 13 points over that stretch, but Bertuzzi is also producing at an elite rate and is the subject of tonight’s best bet. He's got much longer -105 odds to record a point tonight.

Bertuzzi has eight points in his last eight games alongside Matthews and Domi, while also getting top power-play minutes in Mitch Marner’s absence. The power play has not yielded good results, but the Cats PK has allowed eight goals in their last 10 games. 

Perhaps this is the matchup to help the Leafs top unit snap their skid, which presents another opportunity for Big Bert to get on the scoreboard in some capacity.

Additionally, the rugged Leafs winger has had immense success against the Panthers of late, scoring 11 points in his last 10 games against the Cats. Considering Florida's defensive issues of late — allowing 3.13 goals per game over their last eight — Toronto could be in for an offensive outburst.
