NHL Parlay & SGP Picks: Odds and Predictions for Tuesday's Playoff Games

Josh Inglis expects plenty of offense between the two NHL playoff games on tonight's schedule. Seth Jarvis' shots prop anchors a pair of parlays covering all of the action.

Bettors get a pair of tightly priced games where there could be a case for both underdogs. Combine that with more open hockey earlier in the series and all four teams have a great chance at 2+ goals tonight.

This creates a decent opportunity to put a couple of two-way scoring bets together for each game and another high-probability prop for a modest +247 that should give bettors all-night NHL sweats. And if that isn’t big enough for you, I’ll throw in a long shot to appease the masses.

Here are my best NHL picks for Tuesday, May 7, with odds courtesy of bet365.

NHL playoffs parlay picks May 7

NHL parlay pick

Seth Jarvis Over 1.5 SOG

Hurricanes-Rangers BTTS 2+

Avalanche-Stars BTTS 2+

Seth Jarvis led the Carolina Hurricanes in points in the first series and finished Game 1 vs. the New York Rangers with a goal and three shots on goal. He is shooting more in the playoffs than in the regular season where the majority of the pricing is coming from, and the winger has scored in three straight and four of his last five playoff games.

He’s had 3+ shots on goal in four of his six playoff games and his move to a line with Jordan Staal and Teuvo Teravainen is making him a higher-volume shooter while also still skating on PP1. This Over 1.5 SOG prop is a great add and I’m also playing his 3+ SOG on the alt line at +160.

I know Igor Shesterkin is looking good and the Canes can lock it down, but I expect both teams to score two goals in most of the games in this series.

The Rangers’ power play looked great in Game 1 and was the difference in the seven-game series in 2022. It might not be Edmonton’s but at 8-for-16 over the last four games, it’s easy to pencil them in for one a game and possibly more at home.

Carolina has an easier job locking things down at home, but it’s allowing nearly a half-goal more on the road than at home. This is also the best Carolina offense it has rolled out into the playoffs that features Evgeny Kuznetsov on the fourth line.

Freddy Andersen has a save percentage below .900 so far in the playoffs and this series could be higher scoring than many thought going into the second round.

Finally, early games in a series tend to see more scoring, and with a total of 6.5, the Colorado Avalanche offense looking unstoppable, and the Dallas Stars not playing back-to-back elimination games, both offenses have a chance to point tonight in Game 1.

The Avalanche made Connor Hellebuyck look like a career backup in Round 1 after scoring 28 goals, 22 of which came at even strength. This is a much better offense than the one Vegas rolled out.

The Dallas offense is also deeper than Winnipeg's and should be able to take advantage of the last change vs. the Avs goalie Alex Georgiev, who rebounded well after Game 1 but still gave up two or more in all but one game against the Jets.

This is also a game between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in expected goals/60 in the playoffs. The Colorado rust will help Dallas as bettors saw last night in Florida, but the Avs offense looked elite vs. Vezina-caliber goaltending and can shake off a slow start.

NHL long-shot parlay pick

Seth Jarvis 3+ SOG

Hurricanes-Rangers BTTS in 1P

Avalanche-Stars BTTS in 1P

If +247 isn't big enough for you, can I interest you in the aggressive variation of the above parlay?

Jarvis has hit the 3+ SOG mark in four of his six games in the postseason and to get +160 odds for just three shots on the team's leading goal scorer in the postseason is a deal.

The beefy part is getting each of the four teams to score in the first frame, which is paying +639 for the pair. COL/DAL at +155 for a game with a total of 6.5 is a great price as this can sometimes be as low as +135. Neither of the four teams is more than a -125 favorite, so two-way scoring is a good possibility in each match.

All four clubs are averaging over 1.00 first-period goals per game in the playoffs.

Colorado is 3-2 to the Yes in the playoffs, Dallas is 4-3, Carolina is a profitable 3-3, and even New York  is a surprising 4-1 to the yes in the postseason

Today's NHL same-game parlay picks

Our betting experts have scoured through today's NHL odds to find your best SGP bets for each game on Tuesday's playoff slate:

Hurricanes vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)

Hurricanes moneyline

Jake Guentzel Over 2.5 shots

Carolina winger Jake Guentzel only registered seven shots on 25 attempts across five Round 1 games against the New York Islanders, so recording five shots on nine attempts against the Rangers in Game 1 was a welcomed return to form. Guentzel averaged 3.7 shots per game across his previous five trips to the postseason, too.

I also value Guentzel and linemates Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov posting a 60.0 CF% at 5-on-5 in Game 1, and an even better 66.2 CF% when adjusted for score and venue. Of course, Guentzel is also set for top-line minutes and a go-to shooting role on the No. 1 power-play unit.

Avalanche vs Stars same-game parlay (SGP)

Both teams score in first period

Valeri Nichushkin Over 0.5 points

Wyatt Johnston Over 0.5 points

There won't be many games left in the playoffs where I can hit the Over markets on both teams, but Game 1 is a great spot. The public has already moved the opening total from 6 to 6.5 (-110 a side) as plenty of bettors expect goals tonight. Why not both leading goal scorers in Nichuskin and Wyatt Johnston for a point? Both looked great in Round 1 and if the previous four meetings this year are any indication of what to expect, goals will come as Colorado scored at least four times in all four meetings and no game saw fewer than six total.
