After a day off yesterday, I’m back for tonight’s four-pack of NHL games and counting a little more money after the stacks were stacking on Tuesday night.
These are my three favorite NHL player props for Wednesday, March 12.
NHL player prop bets today
Norris Over 0.5 points (+115 at bet365)
Boeser + Pettersson Under 0.5 points (+180 at bet365)
Suzuki + Caufield + Slavkovsky Over 0.5 points each (+220 at bet365)
Best NHL player prop bets for March 12
Josh Norris Over 0.5 points (+115 at bet365)
Books are always slow to adjust players in new roles and Josh Norris’ opportunities in Buffalo after getting traded have been very advantageous.
He's moved to the top line with Tage Thompson and is playing with the top power-play unit. His minutes are up yet the NHL odds have not adjusted his point markets which should be closer to -160 in his new role.
It’s also a great scoring matchup for the Buffalo Sabres as the Detroit Red Wings are riding a six-game losing streak where they've been outscored 23-11. The goaltending in Detroit has been average at best, and Buffalo has been playing in some track meets, which is why this game has the only 6.5-goal total on Wednesday's slate.
The stack with Thompson is +210, but there's too much value on this Norris point at +115 not to play it as a single. This could be as short as -135 two games from now.
Brock Boeser + Elias Pettersson Under 0.5 points (+180 at bet365)
Any team playing the Calgary Flames is worth a look for Under stacks. The Flames are a dead Under team, going 1-8-1 O/U in their last 10 and 2-12-2 O/U in their previous 15.
They're facing a Vancouver Canucks team that lost at home last night and with just one point separating the two squads in the standings, this will be a very intense game with Calgary boasting a three-day rest advantage.
Brock Boeser is likely unhappy about not being traded out of Vancouver and there can’t be many more locker rooms as disconnected as this one. Elias Pettersson finally hit the score sheet last night but that was just his fourth point since February 1 — a stretch of 14 games.
Dustin Wolf (probable) is coming off a 1-0 shutout win and facing a Vancouver offense that hasn’t scored more than three goals in 15 straight games.
It’s Vancouver’s third game in four nights, their only road game over an eight-game stretch, and they’ll likely be starting one of the worst goalies (GSAx/60) in Arturs Silvos, who was just recalled this week. Calgary could be sitting on a lead vs. a tired and frustrated Vancouver team that could still be without Quinn Hughes.
Nick Suzuki + Cole Caufield + Juraj Slavkovsky Over 0.5 points each (+220 at bet365)
The Montreal Canadiens took the 4-2 win in Vancouver last night and are just two points out of the final playoff spot. A lot of thanks needs to be given to this top line in Montreal as the trio of Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Juraj Slafkovsky has accounted for 55% of the team’s goals since the break.
This triple stack has hit in five of the eight games following the 4 Nations Face-Off and is up more than eight units across that stretch. Making things even better for this correlated point parlay is that Patrick Laine is dealing with an illness and might miss another game — giving this line possibly even more opportunities to score tonight against the Seattle Kraken.
The Kraken return home for the first time after trading away three key pieces in Yanni Gourde, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Brandon Tanev. Those are big pieces to miss and the recent play of Joey Daccord could lead to more Montreal scoring as the Seattle starter is 1-4 SU with a 4.33 GAA and a .852 SV%. This line will have opportunities to stay hot all night.
