Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Ryan Donato 3+ shots on goal

+150 at bet365

Chicago Blackhawks forward Ryan Donato paces the team in shots and attempts per 60 minutes, and he’s recorded three or more in 12 of 24 games this season. He’s also logged a respectable 16:08 of ice time per night since November 1, which includes securing a shooting role on the No. 1 power-play unit.

Donato is also in the 85th percentile of forwards in shots on goal and in the 87th percentile in mid-range shots.

The Toronto Maple Leafs don’t suppress opposing shots overly well, either. Toronto sports a 22nd-ranked 48.7 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5 and has allowed a healthy 31.4 per game across its past seven contests.

Prop bet #2: Mikhail Sergachev Under 0.5 points

-120 at DraftKings

The Dallas Stars remain a tough opponent with the fourth-fewest goals against per game (2.61) and ninth-fewest per 60 minutes (2.14) while ranking sixth with a 53.1 Corsi for percentage at 5-on-5. As a result, this is a good spot to fade Utah Hockey Club defenseman Mikhail Sergachev

He’s been on the ice for 12 goals but just 5.56 expected goals with an unsustainably high 20.7 team shooting percentage the past five games, so this is a ripe situation for statistical correction to kick in against a top defense.

Prop bet #3: Timo Meier 4+ shots on goal

+135 at bet365

New Jersey Devils winger Timo Meier has recorded four or more shots in six of his past eight games and paces the Devils in shots and attempts per 60 minutes.

The New York Rangers check out as a soft matchup, too. New York has surrendered the second-most shots per game (32.0) and second-most to opposing wingers per game (12.36).

Meier also boasts a high-end 54.5 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5, and he slots into the 98th percentile of forwards in shots on goal.
