The Montreal Canadiens play host to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight in the second-to-last game of their regular-season schedule.
Nick Suzuki is thriving at home lately and I’ll explain in my Blackhawks vs Canadiens predictions why I believe that will continue.
Let’s dive deeper into my NHL picks for Monday, April 14.
Canadiens vs Blackhawks prediction
My Canadiens pick: Nick Suzuki anytime goal (+145 at BET99)
My Canadiens analysis
The Montreal Canadiens are (probably) heading to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and Suzuki is a big reason for it. The veteran is undoubtedly Montreal’s best player, leading the team with 87 points, tallying 29 goals with 58 helpers in 80 games.
He happens to be on a roll as of late, too. Suzuki has scored in six of his last eight games, netting seven times during that span. Although he was held off the scoresheet in Saturday’s loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Suzuki is up against the lowly Chicago Blackhawks tonight.
The 25-year-old has an assist in one game versus Chicago in 2024-25, but he’s scored in four consecutive contests on home ice. In fact, 18 of his 29 goals have come at the Bell Centre. Needless to say, Suzuki flourishes in front of the Habs faithful.
The Blackhawks are allowing 3.58 goals per night, and Suzuki will be hungry to respond here. Considering how well he’s playing and his opponent's poor form, Suzuki has a very good chance at hitting the 30-goal mark this evening in Montreal.
Canadiens vs Blackhawks same-game parlay (SGP)
Cole Caufield is lighting it up this season, leading the Habs with 37 goals. He’s also supplied 31 assists. The 24-year-old is a dangerous offensive weapon who rarely has any issues creating opportunities on goal.
Caufield just cashed the Over in shots on target against Toronto with five. He’s averaging 2.96 SOG per contest in ‘24-25, and although tonight’s total does seem high, there’s reason to believe he can hit the Over again. The Blackhawks are 30th in the NHL in SOG allowed, and Caufield had seven shots on net the last time Montreal played them.
The Canadiens are in the midst of a two-game losing skid, falling to the Ottawa Senators and then the Leafs. Before that, Montreal had won six straight and must get back on track. Tonight is a prime opportunity to do that, as a win would clinch a spot in the postseason.
Montreal is 4-1 in its last five meetings with the Blackhawks and has an impressive 22-12-5 record at the Bell Centre. I expect the Habs to bring their best and end the cold streak here against an inferior opponent.
