Predators vs Bruins Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

Neither the Predators nor Bruins are scoring at a high clip and both feature strong enough goaltending to keep tonight's clash at the TD Garden below the allotted total.

The Boston Bruins return home tonight to host the Nashville Predators at TD Garden at 7 p.m. ET.

Both Boston and Nashville played back-to-back sets this weekend with the Predators getting outscored 11-4 by the two New York teams and the Bruins winning in Pittsburgh before getting shut out in Minnesota.

My Predators vs. Bruins predictions and best NHL picks on Tuesday, March 4, expect a low-scoring game in Beantown.

Predators vs Bruins prediction

My best bet
Under 5.5 (-102 at DraftKings)

My analysis
It’s a battle between two of the worst offensive teams in the league. The Nashville Predators average a league-low 2.53 goals per game with the Boston Bruins not much better at 2.69 (fifth-worst). It doesn’t help that both sides are a bit beat up with Roman Josi out for the Predators and Brad Marchand nursing an upper-body injury in Boston.

The Bruins have scored just 10 goals in five games since the 4 Nations Face-Off break and four of those goals came in one contest. Since then, they’ve scored four goals in three games.

Things haven’t been much better for the Predators. They also had a four-goal game but have an even worse nine goals in six games since the break. That includes getting shut out twice and another 4-1 loss.

These teams tend to play low-scoring games when they meet, even if healthy. The Predators beat the Bruins 4-0 back in October and each of the last five meetings have had five goals or fewer.

It should be a decent battle in net tonight with Juuse Saros facing off against Jeremy Swayman. Neither netminder is playing up to their potential this season with identical .898 save percentages, but there shouldn’t be many chances for either side tonight.

Predators vs Bruins same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 5.5

Bruins moneyline

Mason Lohrei 2+ shots on goal

The Predators are 6-20-4 on the road while the Bruins are 18-10-5 at home and have been playing decent hockey as of late despite just one win in their last seven games — all six losses were by one goal.

Bruins defenseman Mason Lohrei has seen an increase in his role with both Hampus Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy out. He’s playing on the second line and has been bumped up to the top power-play unit.

Lohrei wasn’t shooting the puck too much before the break but now has 20 shots in five games since. In fact, he’s had 3+ SOG in all five games so taking 3+ SOG instead of 2+ SOG to get a +1200 payout may be worth a look.
