There’s a lot of buzz around the New York Rangers right now after acquiring Patrick Kane in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks, however, Kane will not be playing in tonight’s contest against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Flyers have been struggling all season long. They’re coming into this game on a three-game skid and it’s been a rough one, as they’ve been outscored 16-4.
New York might be a tad shorthanded, but is Philly any match in its current form?.

Rangers vs Flyers picks and predictions
This game might have a bit of a weird feeling to it since most fans are anticipating Kane’s debut on Thursday, but the Rangers still need all the points they can get to try and catch the New Jersey Devils in the Metropolitan division standings.
The Rangers are coming off of a strange win against the Los Angeles Kings, where they didn’t necessarily play their best, but were also only playing with four defenseman after K’Andre Miller was ejected.
This will be their first night of a back-to-back and it is likely that Jaroslav Halak will get the start in goal, to save Igor Shesterkin for their home game on Thursday.
The Flyers are the fourth-worst offensive team in the league, averaging just 2.62 goals per game and they’ve only been able to tally three goals in the two games they’ve played this season against the Rangers.
New York was able to find the back of the net in their last game, but I have a strong feeling this game will be low scoring. I’m going with the Under.
My best bet: Under 6 (-110 at BetMGM)

Rangers vs Flyers moneyline analysis
The Flyers have really had some struggles in their last 10 games: They’ve gone 2-7-1 and they have only scored two power-play goals in those 10 games combined. They haven’t been able to get consistent goal-scoring all year long and those struggles will most likely continue against the Rangers.
New York has had a nice couple of days to rest prior to this contest against a divisional rival and it has been able to get the best of the Flyers in recent history, going 6-1 in the last seven meetings between the two teams.
Vincent Trocheck has been on absolute fire as of late, playing a really strong stretch of hockey, tallying four goals and three assists in his last five games, but outside of him, the Rangers’ best players have quieted down a bit when it comes to offensive production. That being said, the Rangers have way too many offensive threats in their lineup and they should be able to take care of business against a weaker opponent.
Rangers vs Flyers Over/Under analysis
Outside of Trocheck, the Rangers’ star players haven’t necessarily been lighting up the score sheet as of late. Mika Zibanejad scored in their most recent game, but he, along with Chris Kreider and Vladimir Tarasenko, only have one goal each in their last five games.
The Kid Line has been pretty quiet as well, only combining for six points in their last five games together as well.
The Rangers aren’t scoring like they were during their seven-game win streak and their roster will be a little off until Kane gets inserted on Thursday night.
The Flyers don’t score many goals as is, and with the Rangers struggling, this shouldn’t be a very high-scoring game.
