My analysis
Noah Cates has gone from the doghouse to the penthouse for the Philadelphia Flyers. After starting the season as a healthy scratch, the forward has worked his way into the lineup on a suddenly surging team.
Cates only had five points in his first 24 games, but he’s been on fire since gaining chemistry with wingers Tyson Foerster and Bobby Brink. The trio have combined to become the Flyers’ best line and one of the best lines in the entire league in terms of driving play and generating chances.
The 25-year-old center now has 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in his last 19 games. That includes a goal and an assist in two games against the Red Wings this season.
Cates has been pretty consistent as well. He’s been held off the scoresheet in just five of those 19 contests and is coming off a two-assist game in New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.
The centerman plays in all situations for the Flyers, including while defending at 6-on-5 if that becomes necessary to hit this prop. Cates has become John Tortorella’s go-to centerman, and it’s easy to see why over the last month-plus of play.

Tyson Foerster has joined forces with Cates on the top line and second power-play unit. The young winger has a scoring touch with 12 goals in 46 games, but he’s been snakebitten recently with no goals in his last seven games. That’s tied for his longest drought of the season which occurred before this line was put together.
