Sharks vs Golden Knights Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Chandler Stirs Top Line Drink

Centering Vegas' incredible top line alongside Jack Eichel and Mark Stone, Chandler Stephenson has been piling up assists and looks like a great bet to do so against the poor Sharks defense. Read more in our NHL betting picks and predictions below.

We have a Pacific Division tilt with the first-place Vegas Golden Knights hosting the sixth-place San Jose Sharks. These two teams squared off roughly three weeks ago as Vegas grabbed a 4-2 victory in San Jose.

Will the Golden Knights take care of business once again or can the Sharks get revenge as a large road underdog? Find out in our best NHL picks and predictions for Sharks vs. Golden Knights.

Sharks vs Golden Knights picks and predictions

In Vegas’ 4-2 win over San Jose on October 25, centerman Chandler Stephenson recorded an assist on Mark Stone’s game-clinching goal in the third period. I expect him to contribute to the scoring once again tonight.

Stephenson centers the Jack Eichel and Mark Stone line, which is not only the best line for the Knights but one of the best in the league. Through 114 minutes, the line has produced a spectacular 64% expected goals for percentage (xGF%).

This line has zero issues finding the back of the net as Eichel is averaging north of a point per game, Stephenson is averaging exactly one point per game, and Stone is averaging 0.75 points per game.

Stephenson has been stuffing the score sheet of late, recording five assists over his last three games — a trend that should continue against a terrible San Jose defense.

There is no way of sugar-coating the fact that the Sharks’ blue line is horrible. The only good defenseman is Erik Karlsson, who has superstar abilities offensively but is a massive liability in the defensive zone.

At 5-on-5 this season, San Jose ranks just 20th in the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). Backing up this defense is goaltender James Reimer, who is slated to start between the pipes on Tuesday night.

Through 11 starts this season, Reimer is 4-5-2 with a .908 save percentage and 2.88 goals against average. While those surface-level stats are solid, his metrics suggest that regression is looming.

Among starting goaltenders, Reimer ranks 18th in goals saved above expected per 60 minutes (GSAx/60) at 5-on-5. Over his last five games against Vegas, the Sharks’ netminder possesses a .894 SV% and 3.89 GAA.

Stephenson has now recorded four points across his last four games against San Jose, a trend that should continue Tuesday night.

My best bet: Chandler Stephenson Over 0.5 assists (+100)

Sharks vs Golden Knights moneyline analysis

I would lean toward taking the Golden Knights in this contest, but there is little value on that side. They are currently laying –265 on the moneyline at DraftKings, which is far too much juice for my liking.

If you want to avoid the juice, you could take the puck line of –1.5 at –105, although there is not enough risk/reward on that line. Vegas should theoretically steamroll the Sharks in this game as they have the better offense, defense, coach, and goaltender in addition to the home-ice advantage.

However, the line is too inflated relative to those facts, especially in a sport where any team can win on any given night.

Sharks vs Golden Knights Over/Under analysis

I would lean towards the Over, although Vegas’ defense and goaltender are too good to take the number at 6.5. At 5-on-5 this season, the Knights rank ninth in the league in xGA/60.

Backing up this strong blue line is rookie goaltender Logan Thompson, who has been utterly brilliant between the pipes since taking over the starting role for the injured Robin Lehner. Through 10 starts this season, he is 8-2 with a .925 SV% and 2.32 GAA.

Among starting goaltenders, Thompson ranks third in GSAx/60 at 5-on-5. Across his two career starts against the Sharks, he boasts a .923 SV% and 2.40 GAA.
