Oilers vs Panthers Prop Picks and Best Bets: Tkachuk Buries the Puck

Matthew Tkachuk is an offensive force for the Florida Panthers but has been rather quiet against the Oilers. Our NHL picks for Game 5 expect him to break through and beat Stuart Skinner.

The Edmonton Oilers left no doubt the Stanley Cup Final was not over, crushing the Florida Panthers 8-1 in Game 4.

With Florida’s first crack at Lord Stanley's Cup a dud, it returns to Sunrise up 3-1 in the series, still in prime position to claim its first franchise championship.

My NHL picks expect Sergei Bobrovsky and Matthew Tkachuk to do whatever they can to make that happen on June 18.

Today’s Oilers vs Panthers prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: McDavid Over 1.5 points

In a win-or-go-home scenario, Connor McDavid was the best player on the ice in Game 4. He finished with a goal and three assists, marking his third four-point effort of the postseason.

He’s had back-to-back multi-point games against the Florida Panthers — a huge bounce back after tallying just one apple in the first two outings of this series.

McDavid has three goals and 10 assists on the road in the playoffs with three multi-point efforts, and I expect him to be the catalyst for his team again in this must-win scenario.

Connor McDavid prop: Over 1.5 points (-115 at Bet99)

Prop bet #2: Tkachuk anytime goalscorer

Matthew Tkachuk has been MIA during the Stanley Cup Final, sitting with just one assist in the series. He's now gone without a goal since Game 1 of the East Final against the Rangers, a span of nine games.

The talented winger has scored at least one goal in five straight playoff series that he’s suited up for and has lit the lamp in eight of the 10 series he’s played in his career.

Tkachuk hasn’t been entirely ineffective, as he’s pumped 11 shots at Stuart Skinner, so he's been generating chances. Game 5 is a good chance for him to get his first tally of the series as his team looks to put the Edmonton Oilers to bed.

Matthew Tkachuk prop: Anytime goalscorer (+210 at Bet99)

Prop bet #3: Bobrovsky Over 25.5 saves

Let’s be honest: Sergei Bobrovsky getting lit on fire in Game 4 likely wasn’t on many bingo cards. After stopping 82 of 86 shots through the first three games — a sparkling .953 SV% — he was chased after giving up five goals on 16 shots.

Bobrovsky had a couple blow ups this postseason, getting tagged for five or more goals two other times in these playoffs. Both times, he bounced back huge: he made 31 saves next time out after a 6-1 thumping from the Lightning and stopped 21 of 23 after surrendering five to the Rangers.

With Edmonton’s offense finding its range, expect a lot of rubber headed Bobrovsky’s way, and the Russian netminder to rise to the occasion.
