Wild vs Ducks Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Goals Aplenty in Anaheim

Some games are defensive struggles, such as the Wild's 1-0 loss to the Kings on Tuesday night. Minnesota's game vs. Anaheim tonight looks to be a different story. Our betting picks find the best angle to take in what could be a high-scoring affair.

The Minnesota Wild played a pretty boring game last night, losing by the score of 1-0 to the Los Angeles Kings. Marc-Andre Fleury was fantastic in goal, but their offense just couldn’t get much going. They will be playing the second half of a back-to-back, but they shouldn’t be that winded since they had four days off prior to these two games.

The Anaheim Ducks have played in some insanely high-scoring games of late and they have been struggling on the defensive end all season.

Read on for our NHL betting picks and predictions for Wild vs. Ducks to see who has the edge.

Wild vs Ducks picks and predictions

The Anaheim Ducks have been an absolute mess in their own zone at 5-on-5 and while short-handed. They come into this game against the Wild with the worst goals-against-average in the league, allowing opponents to score 4.62 goals a game. To go along with that, they have the second-worst penalty kill at just 63.3%. Their goalies haven’t given them much help thus far, either. Tonight's expected starter, John Gibson, enters this game with a 2-7-1 record while sporting a .901 SV% and a 3.90 GAA.

The Wild haven’t been at their best on the offensive side of the puck, but if there is one team that will help them get going it is the Ducks. They weren’t able to get much going last night against Los Angeles, only generating 1.3 expected goals, but they have some offensive weapons that should be able to spark some scoring chances against a weaker defensive team like the Ducks.

One massive advantage the Wild have over the Ducks is on the man advantage. Minnesota’s power play has been a major positive, coming into this game at a 25.6% success rate.

Marc-Andre Fleury should be starting for the second straight night and his incredible play was the only reason why the Wild were in their game last night.

This is a great opportunity for Minnesota to get back on track. I have zero faith in the Ducks so I am going with the Wild to win in regulation.

Wild vs Ducks moneyline analysis

The Wild have three star players I think will be the difference in this game. Kirill Kaprizov (13 points), Mats Zuccarello (12 points), and Matt Boldy (10 points) drive the Wild's bus. As a team, they have a 53.24% expected goals and since the Ducks allow the most shots on goal in the league, this trio will get plenty of opportunities.

The Ducks have some star players as well, but they are way more inconsistent. Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras have had good starts to the season, but they don’t control the game like Kaprizov, Zuccarello, and Boldy do.

Minnesota's goaltending hasn’t been all that much better than Anaheim’s, but the Ducks have allowed 17 goals in their previous three games which is pretty alarming.

I think special teams will make the difference and that is why in my mind the Wild have the edge.

Wild vs Ducks Over/Under analysis

These are two of the worst defensive teams in the league, with the Ducks giving up 4.62 goals per game and the Wild allowing 3.42, we should see a ton of scoring from both sides.

It is also hard to trust any goaltender between these two clubs right now, three out of the four boast save percentages below .900, and the only one above that is Anaheim's backup Anthony Stolarz, who has a .901 SV%.

The Over has hit in each of the Ducks' last five games and that is solely due to their defensive struggles, not being able to slow down their opponents. Minnesota’s forwards' eyes should be lit up playing against Anaheim and I am expecting them to generate a ton of chances. I am going with the Over.
