The Minnesota Wild saw their seven-game winning streak snapped Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime, but getting back to their winning ways against the Metropolitan leading Carolina Hurricanes on the road will be a challenge.
Minnesota is 17-13 with three shootout losses away from home. Carolina has one of the best home records in the NHL at 24-5, but they have two overtime losses at home, as well as two shootout defeats.

Wild vs Hurricanes picks and predictions
Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.
Moneyline analysis
The Wild are definitely gearing up for the playoffs. With a month remaining in the season, Minnesota is currently second in the Central Division and the third seed in the Western Conference.
The Wild acquired Marc-Andre Fleury at the trade deadline and now have a solid tandem of goalies with Flower and Cam Talbot taking turns between the pipes.
The two have combined for a 7-1 straight-up record and Fleury has won both of his games since coming over from the Chicago Blackhawks. He has a 1.50 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage.
It appears Fleury will get his third start with the Wild and it will be his most challenging one yet. The Wild haven’t won at PNC Arena in seven years.
Offensively, the Wild are solid. Kirill Kaprizov is tied for sixth in the league with 83 points (38 goals, 45 assists). Mats Zuccarello is tied for 28th with 67 points (19 goals, 48 assists).
Carolina has some snipers on its team as well. Center Sebastian Aho is tied for 23rd with 68 points (31 goals, 37 assists) and has scored in each of his last three games.
Another impact offensive player for the Hurricanes is Teuvo Teravainen, who has been setting up many of Aho’s goals. Teravainen has 39 assists on the year.
With the comparable offenses on display, the difference tonight will be found in the defensive ends. The Wild’s blueliners have been a key weakness as Minnesota is 19th in the NHL in goals against per game, averaging 3.08.
Conversely, the Hurricanes are the best defensive team in the league. They are first in GAA at 2.34 and are allowing 28.8 shots per game, second in the NHL.
Another point to consider: the Wild are 1-5 in their last six games as a road underdog.
Prediction: Hurricanes moneyline (-149 at Caesars)
Over/Under analysis
These teams last squared off on Feb. 12 in Minnesota, and the Wild won 3-2. The Under, which has been an anomaly when these two teams get together, somewhat surprisingly hit in that game. In the previous seven head-to-head battles, the Over was 6-0-1. In six of those games, seven or more goals were scored.
The trends would indicate another high-scoring game tonight.
In the Hurricanes' last five games, the Over has hit four times. For the Wild, the Over has hit four times in their last five road games.
Both teams have the offensive firepower to drive the total over. The Wild are fourth in the NHL in goals per game, averaging 3.62, and are 18th in the power play converting 20.6% of the time.
The Hurricanes offense is eighth in scoring, averaging 3.35 goals per game, and ranks sixth on the power play, scoring 24.2% of the time.
Prediction: Over 6 (-106 at UniBet)
Best bet
The secret is out on Carolina forward Teuvo Teravainen. In the Hurricanes' last game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, Teravainen was a +114 to go over 0.5 assists.
For Saturday’s game against the Wild, the best odds for him to go over 0.5 assists is -110 at DraftKings.
The reduced odds are for good reason. Teravainen has had seven assists in his last five games, a streak dating back to March 22.
The 27-year-old leads the team in assists with 39 and is tied for 40th in the league.
Playing on the first line with the team’s goal-scoring leader Aho has certainly helped his assist total. Also, being on both the top power-play unit and top penalty-kill squad gives him additional ice time, thus more opportunities for adding a helper.
Look for Teravainen to increase his assist streak to six games.
Pick: Teuvo Travainen Over 0.5 assists (-110 at DraftKings)
