Arsenal vs Fulham predictions

Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.

Side analysis

It’s been a long time, but Arsenal are finally back at the summit of the Premier League.

In the summer, they recalled William Saliba from Marseille, who has hugely boosted the backline. Not only that but they signed a number of players, with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus the highlights. People questioned the decision to buy Man City “rejects,” but they’ve been proven wrong.

Then you have Fulham, Saturday’s visitors to the Emirates. The newly promoted team have gone about things differently this time. They’ve not signed many players and are sticking with the core of the team that did them so well in the Championship. It’s a smart move, as last time they got promoted, they signed too many players, and it never worked, they didn’t gel, and the team had a terrible start.

While the Gunners are top of the Premier League, it’s worth noting that Fulham are sat in seventh. The West London club haven’t lost yet, winning one game and drawing the other two. One of those draws was against Liverpool, which makes the achievement even better.

Both teams are likely to set up in similar formations 4-2-3-1. For Fulham, that leaves the talismanic Aleksandar Mitrovic up front spearheading the attack with Bobby Reid, Andreas Pereira, and 19-year-old Jay Stansfield behind him.

The key to Fulham’s hopes will be Joao Palhinha, as the Portuguese midfielder has been a revelation since joining from Sporting Lisbon. He’s been the engine room in the team, covering lots of ground, breaking up attacks, and he’s even chipped in with a goal, too. He is a serious player, and it looks like Fulham might have got the bargain of the summer.

Arsenal’s starting lineup is beginning to write itself. Gabriel Jesus is the team’s main attacking threat, with the trio Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, and Bukayo Saka behind him. Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey will anchor the midfield, while Zinchenko and Ben White align as fullbacks, with Saliba partnering Gabriel at the heart of the backline.

Arsenal have started the season so well, scoring nine and conceding just two. That is simply brilliant, and against Fulham, they should win comfortably. The odds of -320 aren’t super attractive, so I’d recommend wagering on this game on a different market.

Prediction: Arsenal moneyline (-320 at FanDuel)

Over/Under analysis

We’ve spoken about that Arsenal attack, and they have so much ability that they’ll be a real goal threat all game.

Fulham, too, have some real talent, and Mitrovic is the man most likely to score. We’ve seen Over 2.5 goals in two of Arsenal’s three games and two of Fulham’s three games.

There have been Over 2.5 goals in four of their past six meetings too. Everything suggests that we should see plenty of goals in this game as well, but at -200 odds, I can’t recommend backing it.

Prediction: Over 2.5 (-200 at bet365)

Best bet

Hopefully, I’ve already put you off backing Arsenal on the moneyline and Over 2.5 goals. I think both will be winning bets, but I simply can’t suggest wagering on them at such short odds. Instead, I’d recommend backing Arsenal -1 at halftime.

The best odds around are +275, but one book has it as short as +100, which probably tells you that there are some mixed thoughts on this at the sportsbooks.

We’ve spoken plenty about how brilliant Arsenal have performed this season, but it’s worth focusing on how well they’ve started games. They’ve scored in the first half of all their Premier League games this season and held the lead at the halfway point in each.

In two of their three games, they’ve scored two goals in the first half, and against Fulham, there’s a good chance they do that again, which makes the +275 on offer look very attractive.

Pick: Arsenal halftime -1 (+275 at bet365)
