After winning the 2022 World Cup, it comes as little surprise to see Argentina's Copa America 2024 odds listed as the favorite to defend their Copa crown.

Lionel Messi leads a talented cast of big-name players in what could be the final international tournament of his storied and legendary career. But Argentina is more than just Messi, and an emerging crop of young talent is ready to step out of his shadow and make a name for themselves.

Before Argentina can add another trophy to Messi’s cabinet, they must first navigate the Copa America 2024 odds which appear set in their favor.

Join me as I break down Argentina’s betting options for this year’s Copa America.

Argentina expected starting XI for Copa America 2024

Winning titles starts with defense, and Emi Martinez has been one of the better goalkeepers on the international stage for the past few years. He made heroic saves at the World Cup, including in the shootout after the final, and will retain his place in goal.

In front of him will be a backline featuring two Premier League central defenders, with Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez likely partnering with Cristian Romero of Tottenham. Nicolas Otamendi of Benfica will also be involved centrally. Both fullback spots are up for grabs, with Nicolas Tagliafico and Marcos Acuna on the left and either Nahuel Molina or Gonzalo Montiel setting up on the right.

Argentina’s midfield saw two bright young stars emerge during the World Cup, and Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea will hope to continue their upward rise. Rodrigo De Paul of Atletico Madrid and Ezequiel Palacios of Bayer Leverkusen will man the third spot, with Leandro Paredes and Giovani Lo Celso providing depth.

When it comes to the front line, only Brazil can truly compete with the depth and star power the Argentines possess. Julian Alvarez of Manchester City and Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez are likely to join Messi in the three-man front line. Angel Di Maria of Benfica and Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho will also play key roles in the attack.

Argentina best bet for Copa America 2024

Argentina to win all Group A matches (+137 at Betano)

Argentina should roll through their group, and I’ll be shocked if they drop points at any time during the first three matches. They drew a very favorable set of opponents, none of which are going to cause serious problems unless Argentina lays an egg.

Canada has some talented players, but they’ve been unable to put things together the past few years on the international stage. Their midfield is simply not strong enough to go toe-to-toe with Argentina for 90 minutes, and La Albiceleste should walk away with three points.

Their second fixture will be against an aging Chile side that is still depending on Alexis Sanchez and Claudio Bravo. The majority of their defenders and midfielders play in South or Central American leagues, and they’ll struggle to match the class of Messi and company. Chile will also be coming off a long trip from Dallas, which will wear on the legs of their aging stars.

And while I’d typically be worried about some rotation for Argentina’s third match, I expect Messi will be involved. That’s because their fixture against Peru comes in Miami—and there’s just no way the Inter Miami star will be held out of action.

Heading into June, Argentina has won 11 of its 12 matches since the World Cup with Uruguay handing them their only defeat. They’ve found ways to win 1-0 matches and blow teams out with 3-0 score lines, and their depth and class is something I’m willing to bank on with this group. I’ll bet on them to take all nine points with +137 odds at Betano.
