Canada expected starting XI for Copa America 2024
When Canada takes the pitch for their first game against Argentina at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Jesse Marsch will likely line them up in a 4-42 formation.
The back four should consist of Moises Bombito Kamal Miller, both of whom ply their trades in the MLS, Alistair Johnston who had a tremendous season for Scottish champions, Celtic, and Alphonso Davies.
The midfield will be comprised of Tajon Buchanan, Stephen Eustaquio, Ismael Kone, and Liam Millar. This group will be the engine room for Canada and if they can't win battles in the midfield and control the game, Canada will be in for a world of hurt.
In attack, Jonathan David (Lille) who finished second in Ligue 1 scoring behind Kylian Mbappe will lead the line, with Cyle Larin (Mallorca) partnering up front.
Ike Ugbo will be the go-to attacking option off the bench if things are going awry.
Canada best bet for Copa America 2024
Over 2.5 group stage goals (-143 at Betano)
Canada has the unenviable task of taking on the holders Argentina in their first match to kick off the tournament. While Argentina is the clear-cut favorite, and boasts a stingy defense, attacking them may be the only chance Canada has at getting a point.
A nil-nil is unlikely given the firepower Argentina boasts, so a single goal here would go a long way in helping this bet. However, if that doesn't come to fruition, fear not. Peru's defense is less than stellar, giving up eight goals in six CONEMBOL World Cup qualifying matches.
Despite being underdogs, the Canadians will enter this game knowing three points is a must, and with high-level players in their XI, they should bag at least two.
In the finale against Chile, another team conceding a goal per game in WCQs, Canada will do well to find the back of the net if they want any chance of advancing.
