Ecuador vs Jamaica Odds, Picks & Predictions: Goals Fly on Day 7 of Copa America 2024

It's essentially lose and go home when Ecuador and Jamaica meet in Group B action at the 2024 Copa America. Given the way both teams played in the opener, our betting expert believes goals will be in the cards for both teams on Wednesday night.

Coming off a stunner of a defeat to kick off their Copa America tournament, Ecuador looks for its first points when it meets Jamaica.

The Reggae Boyz asserted themselves well as underdogs against a strong Mexico side in their opener, falling 1-0.

Ecuador, despite a key loss to its lineup (more on that below), is still listed as -182 moneyline favorite in the Copa America odds for Wednesday.

Find out why our Ecuador vs Jamaica predictions think this one will be much closer than anticipated.

Ecuador vs Jamaica picks, predictions, and betting tips

My best bet:
Both teams to score - Yes (+115 at Betano)

My analysis

Ecuador is still the current favorite to come out of Group B – the one table that doesn’t have heavyweights Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, or Uruguay in it.

Still, they’ll need to overcome a stinging loss of star Enner Valencia against Jamaica, after he picked up a red card after just 22 minutes of play in the opener against Venezuela.

Playing with 10 men the rest of the way, Ecuador could not hold off the Venezuelans, who tallied in the 64th and 74th minute to win 2-1.

That’s a major part of their offensive attack: Valencia’s 41 international goals are nine more than the rest of Ecuador’s roster combined.

Could that open the door for the Jamaicans?

They held their own against Mexico, holding them to a single goal despite 20-shot attempts.

An offside early in the second half denied Jamaica its first-ever Copa America goal, a pretty Michail Antonio header that found the back of the net.

One thing Jamaica will likely struggle with again on Wednesday is possessing the ball. They had it only 38.6% of the time against Mexico.

Still, the Reggae Boyz can counter well, as evidenced by the 13 shots they generated, directing four of them on net.

Ecuador should see a greater time of possession with a full lineup, as they were only able to possess the ball 34.1% of the time.

This will be only the fourth time these nations meet, and the first since 2018. Ecuador has won two, outscoring Jamaica 7-2, while playing to a scoreless draw in the other.

Jamaica showed it can hang already in this tournament. Against Ecuador minus Valencia, this one has all sorts of wild potential outcomes – but in a game where both teams need points, each should find its way onto the scoreboard.

Ecuador vs Jamaica same-game parlay (SGP)

Both teams to score - Yes

Under 2.5 goals

Jeremy Sarmiento anytime goal

Both teams have conceded goals in this tournament, and both have created offensive chances – though, as mentioned, Jamaica’s goal was disallowed.

We’ve picked the Under 2.5 goals because Ecuador’s top scorer is out, and Jamaica has yet to pot a goal in Copa America play, let alone two. The 1-1 draw is looking mighty appealing.

Taking Jeremy Sarmiento for an anytime goal, as someone needs to step up in Valencia’s absence, so why not a guy who has two tallies in his last two international starts?

Before Venezuela, he also scored in a June 16 friendly against Honduras.
