As we enter into Matchday 2 of Group B action, my Venezuela vs. Mexico predictions urge you to be weary about a potential letdown spot.

Given the Copa America odds, Mexico were supposed to enter this game on three points, while Venezuela's upset win over Ecuador has them flying high.

Can they find a way to use that momentum in a positive fashion?

Venezuela vs Mexico picks, predictions, and betting tips

My best bet:
Mexico team total Over 1.5 goals (+132 at Betano)

My analysis
There's a lot to digest when breaking down Venezuela's opening win vs. Ecuador.

On the surface, sure, they won 2-1, but I wholeheartedly believe that result only came as a result of a straight red card to Ecuador's Enner Valencia. That shifted the momentum of the game, and even then, Ecuador drew first blood and led until the 64th minute.

Given the way Venezuela could not muster much up against a 10-man Ecuador side, I expect them to come crashing back down to earth vs. Mexico.

Speaking of El Tri, Mexico got off to a winning start vs. Jamaica, but it was how they played that really has me salivating at this juicy plus money line.

Mexico peppered the Jamaican goal with 11 shots on target but only finished with an xG of 1.15. That tells me a bit of positive regression is coming if they can keep their foot on the gas pedal and play attractive football for another full 90 minutes.

Given the massive letdown spot Venezuela are staring down the barrel of, I believe Mexico's experience and attacking power will lead them to victory here as they bag at least two goals.

Venezuela vs Mexico same-game parlay (SGP)

Mexico team total Over 1.5 goals

Mexico moneyline

Santiago Gimenez any time goal

If Mexico can find a way to net at least two goals, I don't see them walking out of this game with less than three points.

They are the deeper team, the more experienced team, and the team with much more to lose.

Santiago Gimenez will lead the line once more, and he was able to test the keeper once in the first game, but he does have a good goal-scoring record this year.
