Sunday is headlined by a big Premier League matchup between Man City and Spurs. Man City are in pursuit as they look to close in on the top of the Premier League table with Spurs still holding our hope for a title challenge, despite losing three in a row.

Can ‘Big Ange’ get things back on track against Pep Guardiola’s men?

I break down the EPL odds and offer my best Man City vs Tottenham EPL predictions for Sunday, December 3.

Man City vs Tottenham best odds

EPL predictions for Man City vs Tottenham

We’ve got another great weekend of the Premier League and it’s being capped off with a scintillating matchup between Man City and Tottenham on Sunday. Five points separates the two teams in the Premier League table, in part down to a poor run from Spurs. The North London team have lost their previous three games in a row after a disheartening loss to Chelsea that saw them get two red cards. Man City haven’t had the best time of it either and have drawn their past two games, meaning that they’re not at the top of the Premier League table.

Ahead of this game, there’s not much that is certain but one thing we do know is that there’s going to be lots of attacking play. The home side have scored more goals, 33, than anybody in the Premier League this season, and in Erling Haaland they have the best goalscorer on the planet. However, with two defeats and two draws in 13 games, they don’t look like the team that ended last season with a historic treble. Pep Guardiola has encouraged fans to get to the Etihad on Sunday and has promised an entertaining game.

We know Spurs will do their part when it comes to entertaining. Ange Postecoglou has got fans excited since arriving from Celtic in the summer, down to his entertaining and friendly press conferences, and even more crucially his attacking principles. This is a team that simply doesn’t want to defend. When they were reduced to nine men against Chelsea before the international break, they decided to play a high line and continue attacking, rather than sit back and play for a point. In truth, I think that methodology is at best naïve and potentially even stupid, but you can’t deny that it’s entertaining.

Last week in their defeat to Aston Villa we saw ‘Big Ange’ play four fullbacks in his back four, with no traditional central defenders. With Cristian Romero suspended and Eric Dier still out of favor, that is likely to continue here. This brings us to our best bet, which is for Pedro Porro, the man playing rightback, to get booked.

The Spaniard has impressed since arriving from Sporting this summer but he has a seriously hard task ahead of him on Sunday. Playing in that rightback position means that he’ll be matched up with Man City’s Jeremy Doku.

Doku has been a menace for Man City since arriving this summer and his speed and trickery are giving defenders headaches. Through 10 games, eight of which were starts, he already has two goals and five assists and he’s already become a key part of how Guardiola sets up. He’s been fouled on average 1.7 times per game, which is amongst the higher players in the league.

Porro only has one yellow card this season but given the threat of Doku and the lack of a proper central defender behind him, I think we’re going to see that really tested here. He’s a very attacking fullback and he will struggle to challenge Doku fairly if he keeps up his usual attacking style. The odds of +165 for him to get booked offer great value.

My best bet: Pedro Porro to get booked (+165 at TonyBet)

Man City vs Tottenham same-game parlay

Pedro Porro to be booked

Both teams to score — Yes

Man City moneyline

We’ve got a +500 Same-Game Parlay for Man City vs Spurs, so let’s get stuck straight into it.

Building off our best bet which was Pedro Porro to be booked, we’re going to back both teams to score.

We know Man City can score. Erling Haaland already has more goals than games this season and City are the top scorers in the league but it’s worth noting that they also aren’t as strong defensively as previous years. So far they’ve allowed the opposition to score in 66.7% of home games. Spurs have scored in every single game that they’ve played this year, thanks to the manager’s all-attack style. When they’ve been on the road they’ve been leaky too and Both Teams to Score has landed in five of seven away games.

Finally, we’re going to back Man City to win. As mentioned Spurs give up too many goals on their travels and when playing a team like Man City that is a huge problem I suspect that we’ll see multiple goals for City.

Man City vs Tottenham side and Over/Under analysis

Man City should win this, as you can see by their inclusion in my Same-Game Parlay but I can’t back them in a single bet at odds of -385. Not against a team with the attacking capabilities of Tottenham. I’d argue that at +840 you’re getting far, far better value backing them for the away win, despite the fact I don’t think it’ll happen. The draw is also available at +515.

You can back both teams to score, which I think is a certainty, as mentioned above, at -154, and Over 2.5 goals clocks in at -312, which offers no value. That said I also wouldn’t want to wager on Under 2.5 goals even at the big price of +210.
