Man United vs Aston Villa Predictions, Picks & Odds for Sunday's Premier League Match

Aston Villa needs a win in order to possibly secure a spot in next year's Champions League tournament. Given the recent run of form for both teams, Sam Farley trusts the visitors' motivation will be enough to collect all three points.

It’s the final day of the Premier League, which means all 20 teams will be in action at the same time.

My focus for Sunday's card is on Manchester United and Aston Villa meeting at Old Trafford, with European qualification on the line for the visitors.

United come into this following an embarrassing defeat in Europe, and given their form and Villa’s need to win, my Manchester United vs. Aston Villa predictions have the away side taking all three points.

Read on for my free betting picks for Sunday, May 25, with kickoff at 11:00 a.m. ET on CNBC.

Premier League predictions for Man United vs Aston Villa

My Man United vs Aston Villa best bet: Aston Villa moneyline (-135 at DraftKings)

The spectre of European soccer looms large over the matchup.

For United, this game comes after a harrowing Europa League defeat that sees them not only losing in embarrassing style, but also without Champions League action next season.

We head into this final game with Man City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest all competing for the three final UCL spots. City hold the advantage and face Fulham, Newcastle face Everton, while Chelsea and Forest meet at the City Ground. Villa are currently sixth in the Premier League table and on the outside looking in, but if Chelsea fail to win, and Villa win, then the Midlands club will be back in the Champions League next season.

So, that’s motivation sorted.

For Villa, this game is all-or-nothing, and they have a strong chance of qualification if they are able to take three points off Manchester United. For United, this is a game that they just want over.

The performance against Spurs in Wednesday’s Europa League final was humiliating, a truly dreadful performance that saw them fail to create any real chances that weren’t as a direct result of Spurs’ mistakes. Post-game, there’s been a lot of reflection about the club and its future. With the likes of Alejandro Garnacho openly talking about his anger about not starting the game, it feels like there’s huge disharmony in the team. Sometimes teams go into their following game after a big defeat wanting to bounce back, but in this case, it feels like everyone just wants to go on their summer vacation and take a break.

The other big thing that gives Villa an advantage here is the rest that the team has had. Their last game was a 2-0 win over Spurs on Friday, May 16,  meaning that they come into this following a nine-day rest, while United have had a four-day rest and a lot of heartbreak to get over.

Man United vs Aston Villa same-game parlay (SGP)

Aston Villa moneyline

Morgan Rogers to score or assist

Both teams to score — No

As well as our best bet, we’re backing Manchester United to fail to score. United have now failed to score in three straight games and they’ve looked so poor in front of goal, all season long. They’ve scored just 42 goals all season, with only four teams in the Premier League scoring fewer goals.

The final leg of this Same-Game Parlay sees us taking Morgan Rogers to either score or assist. The England international has scored eight this season and set up a further 10 goals in the Premier League, as well as another eight goal contributions in other competitions. He’s bagged an assist in his previous two games and comes into this in fine form against a team who have conceded in six straight Premier League games.
