NEW YORK -- Patrick Corbin earned his third consecutive victory Tuesday night, allowing one run over eight innings as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the New York Mets 7-4 at Citi Field.
The Diamondbacks (69-57) have won the first two contests of the four-game series -- their first consecutive victories since Aug. 2-4. The Mets (54-70) have lost eight of nine.
Corbin (11-11) gave up four hits and two walks while striking out six. The left-hander, who didn't allow a run in winning his previous two starts, had his scoreless streak snapped at 20 1/3 innings when he gave up a homer to Amed Rosario in the fifth inning.
J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer in the first for the Diamondbacks. Paul Goldschmidt had two doubles, and he drove in runs with a fifth-inning double and a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. Adam Rosales homered in the fourth, and Chris Iannetta had two hits and two runs.
Yoenis Cespedes had three singles for the second straight game for the Mets, who scored three times in the ninth. All the runs were charged to Matt Koch, who failed to record an out in his season debut. Andrew Chafin replaced Koch and gave up a pinch-hit RBI double to Dominic Smith, a run-scoring groundout to Matt Reynolds and an RBI triple to Rosario.
Fernando Rodney recorded the final out for his 29th save.
Mets left-hander Tommy Milone (1-3) allowed six runs (five earned), five hits and a walk while striking out five over 4 2/3 innings.
The Diamondbacks raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Iannetta singled with one out and went to third on Goldschmidt's two-out double before Martinez launched a three-run homer to left -- his 26th of the season and 10th with Arizona.
The Diamondbacks added a run apiece in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Iannetta doubled in the third and scored on an error by Rosario. Rosales homered in the fourth -- his fifth of the season and first with Arizona -- and Goldschmidt's two-out double in the fifth scored David Peralta, who drew a leadoff walk.
Rosario's first home run at Citi Field and third of the season pulled the Mets within 6-1 in the fifth.
