Anthony Edwards scored 27 points and dished eight assists as the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Detroit Pistons 124-117 on Wednesday night.
Karl-Anthony Towns also scored 27 points as the Western Conference-leading Timberwolves won their third consecutive game.
Minnesota's Jaden McDaniels had 23 points, while Rudy Gobert powered for 19 points and 16 rebounds. Naz Reid added nine points off the bench.
Jaden Ivey led the Pistons with a career-high-tying 32 points, and he added six assists. Bojan Bogdanovic had 20 points, and Jalen Duren supplied 16 points and 11 rebounds. Isaiah Stewart and Alec Burks put up 12 points apiece.
Detroit won its previous outing against the Washington Wizards to snap a seven-game losing streak. The Pistons are 4-37 at the midpoint of their season.
Both teams shot better than 60 percent from the field in the first quarter and the Pistons emerged with a 40-39 edge.
The Timberwolves finished the half with a 21-11 run to gain a 70-62 halftime advantage.
Minnesota had four players in double figures by the break. Edwards had 17, Gobert and Towns tossed in 15 apiece and McDaniels added 14. For Detroit, Ivey led the way with 13, followed by Bogdanovic (12) and Duren (10).
The Timberwolves stretched their lead to 78-67 when Mike Conley and Towns knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers.
Burks and Ivey hit consecutive 3-pointers as the Pistons pulled within three points. Edwards drained a 3-pointer with 22.3 seconds left in the third quarter to make it 98-90.
Minnesota then opened the fourth with an 11-2 run. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Conley sank 3-pointers before Conley set up Kyle Anderson for a layup. Reid finished it off with another 3-pointer for a 109-92 lead.
Detroit answered with an 8-0 spurt to cut the deficit to single digits. Ivey had four of those points.
After the Timberwolves pushed their lead to 13, the Pistons had a 7-0 run capped by Ivey's 3-pointer with 3:56 to go.
McDaniels and Towns then dropped in 3-pointers to put the game away.
