Atlanta @ Los Angeles preview
Crypto.com Arena
Last Meeting ( Nov 22, 2017 ) L.A. Clippers 116, Atlanta 103
The Los Angeles Clippers will end a seven-game stay in their home arena when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. The Clippers won the first four games in the stretch at the Staples Center - including one as the road team against the Lakers - before dropping matchups with Oklahoma City and Golden State their last two times out.
Their 12th straight loss to the Warriors was a particularly painful one as star forward Blake Griffin suffered a concussion that should keep him out of action for Monday's contest. "He got hit pretty hard," coach Doc Rivers told reporters of the incident, which caused Griffin's hand to tremble as he lay on the ground for several minutes. "You can always tell ... when those players stick around, you know it was a hard hit. And then when you see Blake's hand, you knew it was bad." The Hawks will be finishing a doubleheader at the Staples Center, the first of which resulted in a 132-113 loss Sunday to the Lakers, who had dropped their previous nine games. Atlanta has lost nine in a row on the road and dropped a 116-103 decision at home against the Clippers on Nov. 22.
TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, FS Southeast (Atlanta), FS Prime Ticket (Los Angeles)
ABOUT THE HAWKS (10-29): Dennis Schroder scored 27 points Sunday but he missed all four of his 3-point tries and is 4-for-24 from long range over a six-game stretch. Rookie John Collins was one of the few teammates to provide some support, scoring 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting after going 4-for-19 over his previous three contests. Collins had 14 points, 10 rebounds and four steals in the matchup with the Clippers earlier in the season.
ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (17-21): Injuries are nothing new to Los Angeles, which has had only one player - center DeAndre Jordan - appear in all 38 games. "It sucks. It sucks when somebody goes down especially another starter," Jordan told reporters of Griffin. ". ... You never want to see anybody go down. We've caught the injury bug this season. It sucks man. Nobody's going to feel l sorry for us." Jordan has double-doubles in 11 of his last 14 games.
