Madison Square Garden
Last Meeting ( Nov 27, 2018 ) New York 108, Detroit 115
The New York Knicks look to end a 13-game losing streak when they host the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday in the front end of a home-and-home set between the teams. New York hasn't posted a victory since beating the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 4, which represents the team's lone win in the past 22 games.
The Knicks have lost 15 consecutive home games and are 0-3 on a four-game homestand after dropping a 96-84 decision to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. Point guard Dennis Smith Jr. made his debut with the club against the Grizzlies and had eight points and six assists in 26 minutes. The Pistons put forth one of their top efforts of the season when they rolled to a 129-103 victory over the visiting Denver Nuggets on Monday. "It was fun the way we played," Detroit coach Dwane Casey said during his postgame press conference. "I thought we played hard and played together and that is always fun."

ABOUT THE PISTONS (23-29): Detroit blew a 25-point lead during Sunday's 111-101 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers when the bench was outscored 80-17. It was a totally different result against the Nuggets as the Pistons held a 60-28 edge on bench points and received 21 points from forward Stanley Johnson, 18 from guard Langston Galloway and 14 from guard Luke Kennard. "Our bench was huge," Casey said afterward. "If we get that from them every night, we're not out of the playoff race. We're in the middle of the pack somewhere. We need to have a consistent approach every night."
ABOUT THE KNICKS (10-42): New York owns the worst record in the NBA but is one of the few teams with a chance to acquire New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis prior to Thursday's trading deadline. Davis reportedly is willing to sign a long-term extension with the Knicks should he be sent to the club but perhaps the biggest obstacle is that New York might not have the pieces to make such a deal after trading injured star Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks in the deal to land Smith. Center DeAndre Jordan also was acquired in the Dallas trade and had 12 points and 12 rebounds in his team debut Sunday.
