Devin Singletary scored two touchdowns to help the host Buffalo Bills capture their second straight AFC East title on Sunday, courtesy of a 27-10 victory over the New York Jets in Orchard Park, N.Y.
Singletary rushed for 88 yards and a score before essentially sealing the win with a 5-yard touchdown catch with 3:53 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Bills (11-6) rode a sterling defensive performance en route to securing the No. 3 seed in the AFC and a home playoff game next weekend. Buffalo recorded a season-high nine sacks and limited the Jets (4-13) to just 53 total yards of offense on 46 plays.
Josh Allen completed 24 of 45 passes for 239 yards with two touchdowns, with Stefon Diggs (nine catches, 81 yards, one TD) serving as his primary target.
The Bills wasted little time getting the jump on New York, with Diggs keeping his toes inbounds after reeling in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Allen at 4:18 of the first quarter. Diggs' touchdown reception was his career-high 10th of the season, one shy of the team record set by Bill Brooks in 1995.
Diggs nearly tied Brooks' record on Buffalo's next drive, but his apparent 23-yard touchdown reception was overturned via review. Tyler Bass drilled a 41-yard field goal to give the Bills a 10-0 lead.
With New York facing a fourth-and-5, Keelan Cole snared a pass over the middle from rookie Zach Wilson (7 of 20, 87 yards) on his way to a 40-yard touchdown with 3:51 remaining in the half. The touchdown was Cole's first of the season.
The Bills answered as Bass drilled a 21-yard field goal just before halftime to push their lead to 13-7.
Matt Haack fumbled a snap before getting off a 7-yard punt in the third quarter. New York, however, was unable to take advantage of prime field position and settled for Eddy Pineiro's 49-yard field goal.
Buffalo padded its lead in the fourth quarter as Singletary capped a seven-play, 51-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Allen began the drive by using a pump fake before scampering for a 32-yard gain.
