Last Meeting ( Aug 16, 2018 ) N.Y. Jets 13, Washington 15

Embattled New York Jets head coach Adam Gase has been given a vote of confidence by team brass, and he will try to record consecutive wins for the first time with the organization when his team visits the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Gase's squad got past the New York Giants 34-27 last weekend to snap a three-game slide, but the pressure on Gase remained intense heading into Week 11.

Team CEO Christopher Johnson felt the need to address the matter, insisting that Gase will remain in his role into next year. "I want to assure you there will be no changes in coaches here," Johnson told reporters. "Adam has the trust of this team. He has the trust of [quarterback Sam Darnold]. He has [general manager Joe Douglas'] trust. He has my trust. He's a good man, he's a good coach." The Redskins have already gone through a coaching change and are 1-3 under interim coach Bill Callahan. That win happened in Callahan's first game in the role, but Washington has been outscored 52-18 during a three-game losing streak heading into a bye last week.

TV: 1 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Redskins -1.5. O/U: 38.5

ABOUT THE JETS (2-7): Despite a difficult season littered with injuries and poor performances up and down the roster, Darnold is still thinking big after last week's victory. "We need every win from now on because we've still got a chance. I mean, if we get on a roll here and we win out, we've got a chance at the playoffs," Darnold told reporters. "Guys in this locker room know this. They know that, and we're really excited to continue to get back to work. That's what it's about." The second-year pro threw for 230 yards and a touchdown against the Giants while avoiding an interception for the first time since Week 1.

ABOUT THE REDSKINS (1-8): Rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins received his first start two Sundays ago in Buffalo, completing 15-of-22 passes for 144 yards and no interceptions, and he will run the show going forward. "We're at a juncture where we don't want to be record-wise," Callahan told reporters, "so this is a good opportunity for him to take advantage of every rep so we can see growth in his play." Case Keenum, who threw for over 3,500 yards each of the last two seasons, will serve as the backup.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Jets RB Le'Veon Bell is expected to play despite being saddled with knee and rib issues.

2. Redskins RB Adrian Peterson is averaging 95.8 yards on 18.8 carries over his last four games.

3. The Redskins have won eight of 11 meetings but the Jets took the last two in 2011 and 2015.

PREDICTION: Jets 21, Redskins 17
