Jalin Turner vs. Bobby Green serves as the co-main event of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night card in Austin, Texas.

Turner and Green have been outside the bubble at lightweight long enough, and one of these talented strikers is finally going to get in the mix for a major fight at the expense of the other.

UFC odds currently have Turner listed as a -205 favorite, while Green is being offered as a +170 underdog. Here are my free picks for Turner vs. Green at UFC Fight Night on December 2.

Jalin Turner vs Bobby Green picks

Fight prediction: Turner ML

What's intriguing about this bout is that while Green is coming off two impressive performances and Turner is reeling from losing back-to-back decisions, Turner remains a moderate favorite.

There has always been a lot to like about Turner, but the losses to Mateusz Gamrot and Dan Hooker, who he replaces in this bout, showed that he still has some room to grow. Green, on the other hand, has always been a solid veteran who can be a tough out on any given night.

Turner isn’t going to run into the same resistance he had in Green. Green’s shocking KO of Dawson was only his second in 10 years, and his tendency to keep his hands low leaves Turner with an easy target. Time may be coming for Green as he’s slowed down and isn’t as defensively nimble or agile as he once was, though the 37-year-old continues to fight with a reflex-heavy striking style.

This fight is going to be about who can throw the first punch and maintain their activity. With a six-inch reach advantage and being nine years younger, Turner isn’t going to get outhustled by Green. Turner will be quicker to the trigger and will get the better of the exchanges when they do eventually trade.

It’s a shame that someone has to lose this fight, but Green has been strung along as far as he’ll go. I’m going with Turner to pick up a big win on short notice.

Prediction: Turner moneyline (-205 at DraftKings)

Fight best bet: Turner to win by KO/TKO/DQ

Turner’s superior striking power and natural advantages could end up in this fight being a wipeout. Green has adopted the low-hands style as part of his game, but as he pushes closer to 40, his reflexes are slowing down. That stylistic liability wouldn’t show itself against the badly faded Tony Ferguson or in the flash KO of Dawson, but Turner will exploit that with his reach.

The key to beating a volume striker is disruption, or resetting their positioning. Turner will make it hard to get Green to find his range, and he could very well rely on wrestling and using his viable takedown game to slow the veteran down further.

On paper, Green doesn’t have any answers for Turner. My best bet is that Turner will connect on a huge shot that sends Green down, followed by a ground and pound finish to earn a TKO win.

Pick: Turner to win by KO/TKO/DQ (+250 at DraftKings)

Jalin Turner vs Bobby Green betting preview

Turner is on the hunt for an elusive win after dropping his last two fights in 2023. “The Tarantula” has come up short in split-decision losses to Gamrot and Hooker, and a third straight loss on Saturday would mark the longest drought of his career. When Turner does rebound after a loss, he usually scores a win inside the distance.

Green captured the attention of the MMA world with his big KO win over Dawson. A fan-favorite and established veteran, Green is attempting to inch toward a Top 10 ranking at lightweight. The San Bernardino native is 4-4 across his last eight fights.

Turner is not only younger, taller, and younger, but he is the faster finisher with an average fight time of seven minutes and thirty-one seconds. Green needs to stretch the fight out without getting caught by Turner’s big shots, though he’ll have to find a way to bypass a significant reach disadvantage.
