Sky vs Dream Predictions, Picks, & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

The 2024 WNBA season continues tonight with a matchup between the Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream in College Park. 

The Sky have lost two straight and four of their last six games since the end of the Commissioner’s Cup. The Dream have lost eight of their last 11 games after getting off to a hot start early in the season. 

My Sky vs. Dream predictions run down the spread and total for this Eastern Conference battle as I give my best WNBA picks for July 2.

Angel Reese Over 12.5 rebounds (-122 at FanDuel)

My analysis

The Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream previously met in a Commissioner’s Cup game in the Windy City nearly four weeks ago. The Dream were one-point favorites on the road and pulled out the high-scoring 89-80 win. Tina Charles led the Dream with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Angel Reese led the Sky with 13 points and 13 boards. 

That game was the third of Reese’s 10 consecutive double-doubles, which is a single-season first for any player in the history of the WNBA. Early in the season, most of her rebounds were coming on the offensive glass — mostly off her own misses — but she is starting to rack up defensive boards and is shooting a much better percentage. She is averaging 8.6 defensive boards over the last 10 games. 

The Dream are one of the worst rebounding teams in the WNBA allowing 35.2 rebounds (ninth) and 27.9 defensive boards (10th) per game. At least one opposing player has recorded double-digit rebounds in four of the past five Atlanta games. Reese will have an excellent opportunity to extend her double-double streak in this contest. 

Unfortunately, the odds on Reese to record a double-double are way too short to have any value, but we can still strike on just her rebound total. She will need 13 boards — the same number she had in this previous matchup with Atlanta — to hit this bet. She has hit this number in eight of her last 13 games and that will make this my best bet of the night.

While these are two of the lower-scoring teams in the WNBA, this total is still a bit low. They scored 169 points in their previous matchup and I expect a similar game here. 

Finally, we will finish off the parlay with Chennedy Carter to put up some points. She was held to only four points in 15 minutes in their last matchup, but she has been a different player since. She has reached double digits in all seven games since and is averaging 17.3 points per game over that stretch.
