One of British boxing’s biggest rivalries is now spilling over to the next generation as Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. face off in a 160-pound catchweight clash where the animosity is very real and the stakes are high.

It’s been a long time coming for this fight to finally happen, and Eubank Jr. may just have enough left to defend his family honor on the big stage.

Boxing odds have Eubank Jr. as the favorite at -170 while Benn is a +135 underdog. Here are my best free Eubank Jr vs. Benn predictions from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, April 26.

Eubank Jr vs Benn prediction and pick

Fight analysis
When this fight was first scheduled in 2022, I was confident that Conor Benn could jump from welterweight to middleweight and beat Chris Eubank Jr. He was a star in the making, facing a fighter with a reputation for shrinking under the big lights.

But that all changed after Benn was caught with banned substances. In the three fights since the suspension and cancellation, Benn has looked pedestrian, and his punching power has seemingly vanished.

Now, this fight remains closer to even as Eubank Jr.’s three fights since have seen him trade knockouts with light-hitting Liam Smith and a seventh-round stoppage of Kamil Szeremeta.

At one time, Eubank Jr. had fast hands and considerable power at middleweight and super middleweight, but his inconsistencies prevented him from ascending into the Top 5 of either division and remaining a high-end regional talent at best. He is the naturally bigger fighter and is still fast for his age, but at 35, there’s not much else he can show us that we don’t already know.

That might be enough to beat this suddenly more mortal-looking version of Benn.

Since Benn has returned to active competition, the power that could have been a difference-maker is just not there, though Benn hasn’t looked any less confident or skilled despite that.

In these types of fights, Eubank Jr. is ineffective during the opening rounds and is taking longer to get going. He’ll come on strong later in the fight, so Benn must jump out to a sizable lead and have enough gas in the tank to avoid getting knocked out late.

Considering Benn’s recent form, the lack of punching power he’s displayed takes away the only equalizer he had to match up against Eubank Jr’s size, and it’s not going to look good for him if the fight goes beyond six rounds. Eubank Jr. is the pick.

Best best analysis
This fight will likely be a tale of two halves: Benn should come out fast and try to establish control early, while Eubank Jr. will look to rally in the later rounds. Benn’s fights going the distance and Eubank Jr’s reliable chin should mean this fight could likely go deep enough where there might be a very late stoppage or go to the scorecards.

Expect Eubank to be too much for Benn, making a straight-up moneyline pick the best bet of the fight.
