Welterweight champions Jaron Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis are set to unify their titles and stake their claim as the division’s top fighter. Boxing odds have Ennis the favorite at -600 while Stanionis is a +425 underdog.

Both Ennis and Stanionis have been waiting for their big fight moment, but my Ennis vs. Stanionis predictions and free betting picks believe “Boots” Ennis will walk away with the gold in a competitive contest.

Ennis vs Stanionis prediction and pick

Fight analysis
Though this isn't the coronation Jaron Ennis was hoping for, this unification bout with Eimantas Stanionis is as good as it gets for determining the next torchbearer during this transitional time in the welterweight division.

While it may not do much to solidify his star power, a win here will likely position Ennis for the big fights he just happened to miss out on as Terence Crawford, Errol Spence, and others have exited the division. Frankly, Stanionis won’t have much say in the matter once the bell rings.

Ennis is coming off an uneven rematch win over Karen Chukhadzhian, a fighter he previously swept on the scorecards and made it clear he had no interest in facing again. It showed that Ennis overcommitted in trying to score a knockout, failed to do so, and ended up looking flat in the process. It was an immature showing from a fighter widely praised for his technical brilliance and offensive versatility.

One would hope he’s learned from that and avoids repeating the same tactical mistakes, especially since Stanionis is a legitimate opponent who has also had big fights pass him by.

Stanionis put his career on hold waiting for a bout with Vergil Ortiz Jr. that never materialized, as both fighters traded injuries instead of punches. That left him inactive for nearly two years. He was elevated to full WBA champion last August, though his last actual fight — a win over Gabriel Maestre — came in May 2024.

Stanionis is a strong pressure fighter who works well on the inside and brings real physicality to his fights, which could limit Ennis' ability to dominate in close quarters, where he also does great work.

That said, Ennis is not long for the welterweight division, standing 5-foot-10 and having already teased a potential move to junior middleweight. He’s taller, longer, and more dynamic offensively, and Stanionis lacks the kind of awkward, frustrating style that Chukhadzhian used to stifle Ennis.

This bout is likely the biggest available challenge for Ennis right now, and that should be enough to bring out the best in him. With Stanionis content to bring the fight to him, Ennis will have ample opportunity to showcase the full breadth of his skillset against a willing opponent, and he should be too much for Stanionis to handle.

This fight is tougher than the odds suggest, but the idea of beating Ennis in a straight-up fight at welterweight is a tall order for anyone at this point. Stanionis might have better success if he adopted a more balanced boxing approach, but he’s going to come forward, and that plays right into Ennis' strengths. Ennis is the pick.

Best best analysis
Stanionis is a stiff, physically aggressive fighter who can take a punch and will aim to keep the fight close to neutralize Ennis’ athleticism and reach. While I do believe “Boots” will avoid falling into traps that turn this into a phone booth fight, this should still be a tough, grinding battle for both men that stretches into the later rounds. My best bet is that this fight goes over 10.5 rounds.
