Ok so I guess I've lost all credibility by saying O.J. Mayo is the most overrated player in the country? that could be one of the most idiotic and funniest things I've ever heard especially when it's coming from someone who thinks that right now in college basketball, Tyler Hansbrough is the single most overrated player in the country.  I don't care how highly touted of a player Mayo was coming into college and how good of a pro he is supposedly going to be but it cannot be any more evident about how much learning and maturing he has to do as a basketball player.  Any donkey can look at his stats and think that he's a division 1 college superstar because he averages 19.5 point, 4.6 rebrounds, and 3 assists per game.  But so far USC has played 7 games vs top 25 teams so far this year (memphis, kansas, ucla twice, stanford, and washington state twice).  In those 7 games Mayo is shooting 34 percent from the field, averaging 14.9 points, and has a 0.4/1 assist to turnover ratio, and his team is 1-6 in those games.  Not to mention throughout the whole year his assist to turnover ratio is 0.75/1.  The fact that this kid is the freakin so called point guard and floor general of his team and he averages more turnovers per game then assists is so insanely terrible for his team it's hard to even put into words. For Christ sake, last night vs. UCLA he had more turnovers (10) then the whole UCLA team. 

O.J. Mayo has a ton of talent and one day he should have a successful pro career but as of now he has a ton of growing to do as a player.  So with all the hype surrounding this kid, it is very easy to see how incredibly overrated he is right now.  As of February 2008, It is utterly insane to think that Tyler Hansbrough is a more overrated college basketball player than O.J. Mayo is and that North Carolina would still win the same amount of games without Hansbrough lol.  USC is 15-9 and has been an absolute dissapointment this year based on their preseason projections.  Mayo may have all the hype surrounding him, but his style of play and selfishness is hurting his team.  Last year, although not nearly as talked about, Nick Young was a much better college basketball player and made USC a much better team than O.J. Mayo currently is doing.  So yes, when I say O.J. Mayo is THE MOST OVERRATED PLAYER IN THE COUNTRY RIGHT NOW, i mean it (period)
