Northwestern -18: The Cats have been less than spectacular this season and this is a big spread for a team that has really tripped up at times....they have a talented back court and have good role players up front....they have also faced a tough schedule so far that has included Stanford, Missouri, UCLA, & NC State....after losing to ALL of those guys they need to rack up wins when they can get them....I think they get a big one here tonite at home vs. one of the worst teams in Div I....MVSU is 339th in KenPom out of 351 teams....NW has the statistical edge in every category except scoring OFF but they'll get their points vs. this MVSU defense that gives up a little over 94 ppg

Tuesday 12/17/13

Marquette -19.5: Going with a big spread power conference home team vs. an awful mid-major squad (big surprise from me right?)....Ball St. comes in losers of 4 in a row - the last 3 by an average of 20.3 points....Ball St. will struggle to score against this Marquette defense ranked in the top 30 in PPG allowed and should be outrebounded by the Golden Eagles by a fair margin as well....Marquette gets it done here by 25-30

Michigan St. -24.5: Tom Izzo wants his team ready for the Big 10 schedule looming in the next couple weeks and I feel they come out firing on all cylinders....star G Gary Harris may even play a little tonite as a tune up....even without him Sparty is 30 points + better than their opponents here in this contest....No. Florida has lost by BIG margins on the road in the past 3 weeks to schools such as Indiana, Ohio St., & (the very underwhelming) Alabama and doesn't have the talent or depth to keep up in this one....I just feel this one gets out of hand real quick and if Sparty doesn't sleep walk through the 2nd half we'll get an easy cover

Wednesday 12/18/13

NC State +8: I didn't expect much from the Wolfpack this season as they lost a lot of production to graduation & early NBA draft entry but they have gelled as a team much faster than I expected....TJ Warren is the star now and he will be a focal point tonite in this contest going up against Tennessee forward tandem Stokes & Maymon....NC State shoots just well enough & has just a little bit deeper bench to stay right with the Vols tonite & maybe even pull out an outright win

So. Mississippi -2: The Golden Eagles have been the model of a really good steady program the past few seasons....no stars, no NBA-ready prospects just a balanced approach that gets the job done....even on the road this team has earned victories over decent mid-major teams like So. Alabama, No. Dakota St., & even DePaul from the Big East....tonite they go up against a WKU squad that is 4-0 at home but none of those teams were ranked higher than 218 in KenPom....while USM doesn't have a huge statistical advantage in this one, they will use their grind-it-out style and probably come away with a double-digit win

There's my two winners (hopefully) for tonite....looking at several others but don't want to force anything....GL everyone!
