Hindsight is 20/20.... Everyday I look at yesterdays scores & think why didnt I bet on this or that or bet more on this game....Get your priorities straight & dont bet yourself broke & certainly not your whole paycheck....It takes hard discipline especially for cursed consistent losers like me...Learn from it brother before its too late....

Great post earlier about very few really win at this and the ones who do spend tons of time sucking up to these greedy sports books who limit them!! Imagine if Wall Street did that.. but so just bet on Wall Street then, right?
No because that’s not as much fun is it? So just try to set a budget and realize you get the same high out of lowering your bets..

keep a bankroll aside just for gambling, limit yourself to a maximum every year. If you lose, you're done till next year. Never bet more than 5% of your bankroll on 1 game, average bet should be 1-2%. practice more self disclipline, sometimes i's hard to just lay off the game, but sometimes that's the best play, there will be another game tomorrow or next week.

First thing to do is to stop following the masses on Covers.com. Make no mistake, the bulk of guys on this board get destroyed. They just brag out there few wins or small streaks to mask the fact they have reloaded tons of time during the year.
I know guys personally who left this site because they could no longer pretend they were killing it when they were down big.
The ones who bet daily crack me up the most. Nobody wins long term betting that way. Patience, research, and understanding lines will allow you to pounce when it's time.
Keep your head up.

My advice. Take a break. That's what I do when I hit losing streaks. Was on a bad one back in November/December (stupidly tailed that Falcon Sports guy) then decided to throw a couple bills.on the SB won and have thankfully made a good chunk of what I lost back from that bad run.
But yes, take a break for a while. Focus on other things in life. I know it's easier said than done but you got to try.

Most gamblers lose because they chase in this sport you need bankroll if you can accept losing and don’t chase you have a chance problem is most gamblers don’t know how to take a lose before you know it betting games you have no clue about listening to guys that you think are hot in here and by the end of the week your down big then you become gun shy question your bets and everything becomes a fog I’ve learned over the years when I’m down just pay the book there’s 52 weeks in a year can’t win them all

Boston my advice is sit some play money aside from a paycheck and if it exceeds that limit then stop . 3 small bets is the best way to go. Anytime I go large I always regret it and it takes the fun away

There’s no demon about it. The demon is your lack of understanding as to how this works.
I truly hope this helps.
1. Figure out a bankroll for yourself. That might be $25,000, might be $1.5 million or it might be $300
2. Never risk more than 2-3% of that bankroll on any one bet.
3. Realize that MAYBE 3% of all bettors profit in the long run and you will probably lose your bankroll unless you’re willing to put in some serious work.
4. Risking your pay check on one weekend, day or month will never work out. You’ll double up sometimes, the following week you’ll lose it all. Success rate is almost 0%
5. If you can’t adhere to it these principles and you don’t have expendable income, please stop gambling…if not for yourself, for your family. If you can’t control yourself, I suggest looking for some outside help.
Good luck in your future man. This hobby is for people with money they can afford to lose. Stay away if you don’t have that luxury.
Hope this helps bud.

Beautiful man…beautiful and sage advice. Lost a friend a few years back to suicide he went broke (professional poker player), one of the best mid stakes cash game poker players I ever met.
He just snapped. Let’s all be real..this can be dark. Sadly, it usually is for 97% of us.
Boston kid, although I laughed at a few comments (need to lighten the mood at times), I’m here for ya. Private message me, I can help you with some online support groups if you need. Don’t want you or anybody else ending up like my my very great friend. This isn’t even close to worth it. Private message me if need be.

You need to hate losing more than you love winning. Once you reach that point you will never be in this predicament again. You have to absolutely hate losing and work even harder to keep from losing in the future. Winning shouldn’t be a high.

When I was working (retired for 4 years now) I would reward my self with $100 bucks a week to wager on sports, whatever I could do with it would be my limit for the week, many times I lost it on Friday many times it would last for days, weeks, and sometimes months! Money management, discipline, and don’t bet with your heart, bet with your gut!GL
