I know Cal is on their turf pretty much....But I see Miamis D & run game being superior to Cal's and if anything Cal should just be the -3 fav....
now that Jahvid Best is healthy there is no way Miami's running game is better than Cal's... in fact, that matchup isn't even close... Best is ready for the pros right now... and don't overlook Cal's defense, either... very solid, very fast! Miami is good, but no way they should be favored in this game playing on the other side of the planet in Cal's back yard...

Hey Bibendi I have been on here a couple of years, but I am still new to capping games I have followed you on a bunch of your picks this year and appreciate all the dough you made me. I am doing a office pool with the bowl games and would like to know a little about what you look at when you cap games, I like to look at the games myself but dont really know a lot about what im doing. Any help would be appreciated.

I dont think Wake can beat the piss out of Navy. Navy has already beat them once this year and I honestly dont like Wake ever stopping the option of Navy

I like UConn too Bibendi, Brown running the ball is a beast, but the passing game of UConn still worries me. What are your thoughts on that? But I do think the UConn defense will make Willy force some throws for interceptions....I think that will be the difference...like the pick....

For what it's worth, the two school Gill interviewed at have already got their head coaches lined up. Looks like Gills staying put for now.
I would like to be Turner Gills agent; I would have told Auburn to stick the job up their (_o_)... I will only consider a job where I work for the AD and Pres of the University... Not interested in working for stupid ignorant wealthy alumn. no thanks, but have a nice day; enjoy your new coach... who ???? won 5 games in two years???? nice hire auburn.... NOPE Gill has time on his side... he should wait for and he will get a great coaching offer... it does not have to be this year... he is money in the bank.... no rebuilding deals with schools who are perpetual cellar dwellars.. ... no schools that will not committ to HIM the tools necessary to do the job...He is a quality guy, a good coach... and he will be in HIGH demand.... time is on HIS side

ECU just went into Tulsa and made the top rated passer , David Johnson, look terrible and beat them SU. I think Tulsa just had another TO
Am I missing something?
Well first off... Rich Brooks is a helluva coach... you try to do what he has done....perpetual cellar dweller in the SEC, at a BASKETBALL school that ran off every decent football coach they every had (Bear Bryant& more)....... you would not make a pimple on his ass son..... now; UK has an SEC defense... I like Skip Holtz, and he has done a great job there... but this game is a not at the level he has played at.... i have not played this yet...but for me it's UK or pass.... I don't know what internet coaching school YOU went to; but you should see if you can get your mone;y back, because you don't know shit about this matchup IMHO

Bib your girl Hillary Duff has a big girl lay-out in Maxim Magazine
I don't understand why you like Ky. They have a mediocre coach, a QB rated 101 of 107 and E carolina is coming off a big upset at Tulsa and has a good QB in Pinkney and a good coach in Skip Holtz, They are 9-4 and Ky is 6-6,with the same schedule difficulty!! please explain

I don't understand where you are coming from with all your nasty remarks.
We are on this site to help each other make money.
First you make a very rude comment to Bibendi and then you make a stupid remark to me. I was trying to ask Bib about the Ky/ECU game. You do not have to agree with me but why come up with such vulgar remarks.
I can see why Bib gets upset at some of the comments people make. The guy is hitting 65% , he's not getting paid, just helping and people like you , have to make rude remarks
I just don't get it

Ok it is that time. I am going to be tired at work tomorrow but the VT write-up needs to be done. I am currently sitting on 149 wins in the Ultimate Race too and someone else has already won. Oh well, 2nd place would still be awesome. But crushing the bowls will be much better anyway.
A little pre-cursor to this game. I am a VT homer. I went to Tech and I live and die with every second of the game. And yes I am taking Tech. I dont think this should be viewed in a negative way though. I have bet on every Tech game this year and only lost twice(East Carolina and Western Kentucky). While winning the rest. I have faded my team on several occasions(BC, FSU, UVA, Duke). I know my team very well and I use this to my advantage. So leave all the your just a homer insights out of my thread. Thank you...On to business...

OK so in this game weve got the ACC Champions Virginia Tech vs. the Big East Champions Cincinnati. Apparently they allow mediocrity in the BCS now. I wish neither conference got a bid. Cincy has only 2 losses but have played a far easier schedule. They are riding a 6 game winning streak dating back to their loss in Connecticut. VT enters with 4 losses but riding the heels of a 3 game winning streak including avenging the loss to Boston College earlier in the year in Chestnut Hill. Interestingly enough, both teams have had their struggles with injuries at the quarterback position. Neither team looks to blow anybody out. Ok onto the analysis. I'll start with Cincy.
Cincy started off their season with a win over Eastern Kentucky. Yeah no one cares. They next travelled to Oklahoma where nobody expected much. Game started out as expected. Oklahoma scored 2 TD's on their first 2 possessions and only faced 1 third down in the process. They picked off Bradford and then a huge play to Gilyard set them up for a touchdown. Oklahoma immediately responded with a TD. Cincy then drove right down the field but threw a pick in the endzone. Bradford was uncharacteristically reckless with the ball in this half. He threw another interception which set up the Cincy touchdown. I know its a common theme, but if Bradford doesnt turn it over this one is a laugher in the 1st half. So I'm not buying into the whole Cincy played with Oklahoma for 1 half argument. They didnt, Bradford simply played down to Cincy. Cincy got the ball to start the half and then punted before Oklahoma scored another TD. So it was basically a TD or INT for Oklahoma the entire game. I know you cant compare VT's offense to Oklahoma's and Oklahoma will score on anyone but I'm just nixing the argument that Cincy played with Oklahoma. Its false. Cincy could not run against them and their 3rd TD came on a kick return. Once Oklahoma made their halftime adjustments on defense Cincy was unable to do anything. Cincy then played Miami(OH) where they were only winning 24-20 until the Miami QB threw a pick 6 when Miami was driving. Cincy turned the ball over twice again and the only turnover forced was the big play for 6. They were able to hold Miami to 66 yards rushing while going for 152 themselves. They next travelled to MAC powerhouse Akron where Pike broke him arm. Akron was a missed extra point away from sending this one into overtime and they had Pike playing the whole game for the most part. These teams were very evenly matched in about every category. Cincy turned it over twice againCincy then travelled to Marshall where they were once again in a dogfight that the score does not indicate. After taking a 16-0 lead early, Cincy allowed Marshall to creep back in the game with 10 points. Cincy then dominated the remainder of the game but they really need to be able to put a team like VT away and not let them hang around. I dont see this happening. They once again had 2 turnovers although forcing 3 interceptions in this one. Cincy attempted 20 more runs in this game than passes and that wont work New Years day. They ran for 200 yards but it was only 4.4 ypc. Tough to really expand on their next one vs. Rutgers as Rutgers had yet to hit stride and Cincy had Anderson at QB. Regardless, another 3 point victory and at this point I'm sure no one was expecting this team to be Big East Champs. Next one they travelled up to UConn and this score is just as misleading as most of their big wins. They were in this game but turned the ball over 6 times as opposed to forcing none. Nobody can win a game with numbers like those. Interestingly though, this team commits turnovers against teams that force them Doesnt bode well for Cincy. Their offense was absolutely pathetic. 0/14 on 3rd down and couldnt even move the ball. This seems to be a trend away from home against a good defense as youll see...They actually did a good job containing Brown in this one. Then came the Thursday Nighter at home and Cincy's statement game. USF was still sexy in the publics eye(and mine) and Cincy had looked awful. Pike had one of his better games though and valiantly led the Bearcats to victory.

Although they turned the ball over 3 times in the process. Once again, if they turn it over even twice against VT it's lights out. Pike to Gilyard was once again the main connection. I can guarantee you this is the conversation Bud Foster has with Macho Harris....."Macho Man, if you want to be a 1st round pick in the NFL draft this year, all you have to do is prove you can shut down this explosive receiver". He has had a phenomenal year and should be a great matchup. As I'm running through these Cincy games I continue to ask myself what its going to take to beat Cincy. They have a pretty good defense that seems to bend but not break. What I am coming up with is just to capitalize on their turnovers and not allow the big play to Gilyard. UConn did not play extraordinary ball against Cincy, they just held on to the ball, contained Gilyard and limited their turnovers. Cincy needs you to make mistakes and have breakdowns to be successful. They run for less than 4 ypc in most games and I dont expect that to change against VT. What really kills me is hearing about how great they are for beating WVU. They gained 260 total yards in this game Gilyard hit his big play on the opening kickoff. WVU turned it over twice and didnt force any turnovers. No surprise they won this game. The worst part is they should have won this game 20-7 but somehow managed to once again allow a team back in the game. They sure are friendly! They did contain Pat White to 40 yards on 21 carries which is a huge deal in the bowl matchup. Louisville was up next and Cincy was losing this one at halftime. Gilyard had another big play and Pike threw a costly interception late but their D bailed them out. The big thing I draw from this game is that Louisville actually had a smart game plan. They based their defense around stopping Gilyard. This opened the door for their other wideout to have 9 grabs for 134 yards and a touch. VT shouldnt have this problem. They have a great corner opposite Macho Harris in Stephen Virgil. They wont need to drastically change their gameplan to mitigate these receivers effect on the game. Well next game Pitt came to town and same old. Either these receivers and passing game is unstoppable, or they are in some serious trouble against Tech. Goodman and Gilyard both had over 100 yards and their rushing game was lame again. This was a very convincing win though and left people wondering why the Stache is still a D1 Coach. In typical Bearcat style they allowed Pitt 2 late TD's to have a chance. They only lost 1 fumble in this game as they had a pretty error-free encounter. Seems they enjoy the comforts of home.....
I'm skipping over the Cuse game b/c other than ND who really cares. These recurring themes just kill me though. Cincinnati had no business winning this game. They ran an interception back, got a safety and then hit their big play to Gilyard to win the game. There is no secret to how Cincy will win a game. Once again they turned it over 3 timesSo contain Gilyard, capitalize on their inevitable turnovers away from home and limit your own turnovers. Cincy isnt going to run on you they are just looking for the big play in the air and to take advantage of your turnovers. Let's see how VT fares in these departments
