I gotta go to bed bud....It's just hard to fathom a world where people defend Franklin.  While it wasn't super egregious...it was the wrong call. In a career full of bad decisions and letdowns.

No need for penn st to force a throw, under pressure to the middle of the field. Play conservative. Plenty of time. They could’ve run the ball for another 10 yard gain or thrown a 5 yard out with nd playing prevent there. But that’s on the QB. Bad decision that cost him the most important game he’ll ever live through

 No I’m not. I made my point, you go for the win, you don’t play both lose, that’s insane, you have to do with what you have, to say run and wait for ot is beyond stupid. Lots of time with timeouts to go get three with a good kicker. Again tits up to your qb to throw it away or run with it if no one is wide open. But you  absolutely try to go get the win there, zero argument to that. You have time make a throw or two on the drive but they don’t have a qb that’s capable of that. Again if you you want to put something on him it’s keeping Allar as qb if that was him then ok but I don’t know who’s final decision that is. The qb they let walk is better in beau, but you have to play with who you have which is a fucking moron at qb unfortunately for the coach and rest iof that very talented team. But you go try and win there absolutely no decision there. They just don’t have a qb that can do that. If Franklin is the guy that keeps Allar in charge then yes crucify him for that absolutely. But as far as play calling you let your qb drop back there and trust he will protect the ball. As far as leading 10-0 Dame had two straight drives to make it 10/10 then they did stuff the run got he ball back and made it 17-10. Again not a huge Franklin fan but this was not in him this is all on Allar he was by far the worst player on their team tonight and lost them the game.

How many picks did Allar throw up until that point in the game? In the playoffs?

You had to get 50 yards in 37 seconds with 2 time outs.

You put your qb on the field because you expect him to make the right decision and he gives you the best chance to win with the factors I laid out above. The play didn't work. You throw it out of bounds. He panicked. Its on Allar. Of course the coach is going to say its on him. Thats what good coaches who care about their players do. They take the bullet for the team.

I'm not debating you that Franklin has made bonehead decisions in his career. We can agree on that.

No coach is winning a championship with Allar at QB no matter the skill of the team, maybe, just maybe the historic Miami hurricane defence maybe but even Testaverde fucked those guys. Just can’t win with a loser QB, in the least you need a guy who won’t give the game away.

Oh now we are going to count Int's that didn't actually happen. The first one was a penalty. The second was not. Were they bad throws? Absolutely. But it doesn't matter. They were wiped away.

I didn't have anyone in this game. This isn't on Franklin though. Everyone forgets they were down 17-10 and then reeled off 14 straight to take the lead.

Right starting a drive from your own 28 with 40 seconds with a terrible qb is a +EV move....an INT not only ruins your chance at the W in regulation BUT pretty much seals the deal for ND.  Its different than if you're at your 45....

Some serious Monday morning quarterbacking going on here.  Franklin did what every other coach would have done in that situation.  Under a minute left bad field position, run the ball on first down.  They did that.  You get stuffed, play for OT.  You get a good run, which they did (first down stops the clock), you go for the FG.  No coach is gonna run the clock out there after a good run and getting into decent field position.

Lol you are on your opponents 25 yard line and not your own 30. It’s a completely different call.
