In the playoffs? You had to get 50 yards in 37 seconds with 2 time outs. You put your qb on the field because you expect him to make the right decision and he gives you the best chance to win with the factors I laid out above. The play didn't work. You throw it out of bounds. He panicked. Its on Allar. Of course the coach is going to say its on him. Thats what good coaches who care about their players do. They take the bullet for the team.
Allar threw two picks that were picked up because of flags. Both of those throws were terrible too. Both guys will never be champions. It’s that simple.

When they scored 14 straight to take the lead back with 7 minutes left and his DB slipped on the ground off the snap and that allowed 54 yard TD pass? Ya that’s definitely on Franklin.
Or when they went 3 and out right after because of great Notre Dame D, but they stepped up and stopped the Irish from scoring and got the ball back with 38 seconds back
Your bias is showing.
Has Franklin made horrid decisions in the past. Absolutely. But this loss was not on him. They gave up 17 straight and still rallied to take the lead back.

Notre dame has a legit defense and it was a bad sitatuion for allar. They didn’t pass the last 2 games then you come into a game vs a good pass defense who’s fired up no momentum at all. Loss my prop on allar but at least I know why

Funny how some of you guys think Allar sucks, and yet you expect him to lead a drive downfield against one of the best pass defenses in the country with less than a minute to go. Weird.

worst part of it is that that dumass coach calls a timeout with 10 seconds. essentially giving notre dame a free play. givng them an extra 4 yards. idk if that meant anything but that was just dumb.

Franklin is a terrible big game coach but to complain about him going for the win in that situation is silly, If they played it safe and lost in OT, he would be (rightfully so) getting grilled for not trying to win in regulation

they lost the game. Are you telling me it was a 100% lock they were winning in overtime with Penn State going Run Run Run Run? Because that seems like the narrative you are pushing

@AJ86 Lost all his big games. His 2 wins were against teams from bad divisions who did not belong. When it comes to big games against real teams he always loses. Oregon in championship game and now Notre Dame. Penn State needed a signature win.
did Franklin lose the game last night and if so explain how he did.

Franklin made the right decisions. He ran it on first down. If ND didn’t allow the run for more than 3yards, PST would run it again. Remember, ND had 3 timeouts. Fortunately or Unfortunately the runner gained 13 yards to the 28. Now, he has to open up the offense to try and win the game in regulation, because they are no longer backed up. His calls in PST’s last drive were the right calls. I think this one is on the QB’s coach and offensive coordinator. These kids are young, if you don’t remind them, they will try to make a play. They will continue to try to be hero’s for their team. QB coach needed to remind Allar of the situation. Have a clock in your head and no risky throws.
I’m glad he didn’t..

They had a better chance to win in OT than they did driving downfield with less than a minute in regulation against perhaps the best pass defense in the country. They rushed for over 200 yards in this game while their passing attack was hit and miss for the most part. Franklin put Allar in a horrible situation. That's why he sucks in big games, and because you're defending him it makes me wonder if you're related! Lol

There was a thread about Penn st should be -7 before opening line came out. Once the line was 1.5, that was the clear indicator that ND was gonna win. These sheep cannnot set lines.

stated earlier. Not a Penn st fan. Didn’t even bet the game.
When you say he put him in a bad situation that makes no sense. Allar looked at his first option and second option. Both covered. 3rd option was risky. He decided to throw the ball. Not Franklin. He could have eaten it. They needed 40 yards in 38 seconds with 2 timeouts and stoppages with first downs. Plenty of time.
saying they had a better chance in OT is not guaranteed.

WRs had zero receptions. Their whole offense was the run game and TE. Not exactly a good recipe for driving down the field with less than a minute to go. Again, Franklin is a dumbass for putting Allar in a position to lose the game.
