GL on that bet, Doc...In my score prediction, I have the game going under as well. Mizzou is about to find out, that KSU has a stronger D than La Tech!

Hey Longhorn, so you found it tough to pick many sides this week as well?
There are few road dogs I like a lot and the more I dive into this Houston - Texas Tech game with the capable 2nd string at QB, the more I like the Houston cover at +4
It will be a tight game

Rationale
Ranked in order of Priority...
1) September 10, 2022 - @Kansas State -8 over Missouri
Kansas State 35 Missouri 17
Top Pick - Everyone seems to be excited about Mizzou's big win over La Tech, who just hired Sonnie Cumbie...and everyone seems to be dissapointed with Adrian Martinez solid but not outstanding performance against South Dakota, yada, yada, yada...I think you are going to see an outstanding effort by KSU tomorrow, to kick off the season with Redemption candidate Adrian Martinez...Sure, he had many turnovers at Nebraska trying to save the fortunes of a once proud program in decline. AM was a 4 star recruit...I doubt KSU has ever had a starting 4 star recruit with the experience of AM. Mizzou is starting Cook, who has limited experience. Mizzou did get some help in the Tr portal with the 22nd ranked Tr portal class, while KSU had the 33rd which included AM. And KSU has Deuce Vaughn, an All American last season at RB. The dude is 5'6" but very powerful and quick...Mizzou did get the #1 WR in the 2022 class, Luther Burden, who may be a NFL WR one day and may be the real deal. However, against a cohesive KSU D, I think its going to be tough for Mizzou. They get Peat a tr from Stanford as the starting running back, but he had 400 yards rushing for Stan last season. One anecdote that I have developed over the years is to almost never bet against Kansas State in Manhattan...They seem to play at a different level at home. AM will be a game manager and distribute the ball to the KSU WR...dink and dunk, and hit a few big plays and play solid D. I think KSU wins by DDs, wins and covers...
2) September 10, 2022 - @Arkansas -8.5 over South Carolina
Arkansas 35 South Carolina 21
Ark pulled out a gut check and a cover against a solid and reloading Cinci team in week 1...SC looked marginal against a good Sun Belt team in Georgia State...At half time SC only led 12 to 7 and GSU scored in its first posession of the 3rd quarter to take the lead 14-12...SC ended up blocking two punts for TDS, to get separatation. Former 5 star QB and OU Tr Spencer Rattler had 2 INTS and 1 TD. SC only had 79 rushing yards, because their top 2 RB starters are out. Though Ark only returns 4 starters from last season on D, they have depth. Granted elite safely Catalon may be out due to a broken hand for Ark, but I have faith in DC Barry Odom to make up for that loss. SC starting safety will also be out for the game. I think it comes down to depth where Ark has the advantage. That plus the game is in Ark in Fayetteville, and a hostile place for a visitor to play. I attended the Sep 11, 2021 game where Ark destroyed my beloved Longhorns. I think the environment will be similar for this the first SEC game for both teams. Pitman is in the 3rd year with program while Beamer is in is 2nd year. Ark has KJ Jefferson at QB who has improved his game. That to go along with a solid Ark running game including an outstanding OL. I think that will be the difference in the win and cover, Ark ability to wear down SC with its running game in the 4th quarter, and the Ark bending but not breaking against Rattler. I think DC Odom will pressure Rattler to get him to make mistakes. Thus, I think Ark win by DDs, and cover the chalk.

3) September 10, 2022 - Syracuse -23 over @Connecticut
Syracuse 42 Connecticut 13
Some are discounting Cuse's dominating win over Louisville in Syracuse last week as an anomaly. I disagree. With Tucker at RB, a solid O Line, and a respectable LB corps, Cuse, may surprise some this season. Babers is on the warm seat, and has had 5 losing seasons of his 6 in Syracuse. So, some cappers on covers, believe that this line is inflated, and perhaps it is based on pre season perceptions. Yes, UCONN pulled Mora out of retirement, and he is a good coach, but come on...This is UCONN, still a bottom 5 team in FCS, off a win against FCS Central Connecticut State, which happens to be my wife's alma mater. The 4 star Penn State transfer QB got injured before week 0 and is out for the season. So UCONN starting a true freshman, who is athletic and was a prolific high school player in high school in Florida, but, he is about to face a hungry step up in competition. Syracuse is no position to take UCONN lightly, and not beat them to a pulp, even with Purdue on deck. Cuse D harassed a good Lou team who perhaps was having an off day. QB Shrader looked a lot better than he did last season, plus Cuse has the former prolific OC from Virginia Robert Anae who helped VA have a top 20 offense for several years. And UCONN does not have much of a home field playing at East Hartford, CT while there will probably be more Syracuse fans in the stands than UCONN. This was formerly a big rivalry game back in the Big East Days, when Cuse and UCONN had better football teams. So its important for recruiting...Babers has shown that he will run up the score on bad teams both here at Cuse and when he was at Bowling Green. I think this will be the case here. I think Cuse wins in a blow out and covers the DD chalk...
4) September 10, 2022 - Alabama -20 over @Texas
Alabama 52 Texas 13
I am going to keep this simple. As my prediction indicates, I think my beloved Longhorns are in for a long day...I think this will be a statement game for Nick Saban and I see a lot of similarities with Georgia's week 1 blowout destruction of a talented Oregon Team. Texas has talent, its just not there yet. Out O Line is marginal, and will be exploited by Will Anderson. QB Ewers is playing in only his 2nd game in almost 2 years. ULM was a quasi high school team. Yes, we have Bijon Robinson who will probably get 50 to 75 yards. But, he won't be able to carry Texas. I think Ewers will throw multiple picks, including at least one pick 6. Texas DL and LB corps are above average, but nowhere close to Bama. Our secondary has talent but they are green. Texas WR Worthy, WR Whittington, and WR Sanders are elite, I just dont think Ewers will have time to consistently get the ball to them to make this game close. I hate betting against my Longhorns as a homer and an alumnus because when I back them they play crappy, and when I bet against them, they play outstanding. But, with regard to capping, I trust my head more than I trust my heart and my gut...Alabama rolls Texas...big time! Wins and covers! I will be shocked and I will eat crow, if Texas covers this spread...And I give Texas no chance to win this game...
