i agree with lv...gotta remember all the players remaining on ecu's squad were recruited and drilled on holtz's ground 'n' pound methodical style offense.......the reality is that regaurdless of what they look like in practice against the same jerseys, when the real bullets start flying, i'm betting on some growing pains, especially with the qb ???'s
and ecu only returns 2 starters on d-fense...i realize the backups are not completely green, but there's still gonna be some early jitters....all over this team.
i feal like tulsa is gonna be a bounce back team that really starts to gel on offense with returning texas transfer qb gj kinne, last year with a terrible o-line he passed for over 2700 yds 61% with 22-10 ratio, o-line only looses one starter, will be much improved
i think tulsa just out-scores them, pulling away late
TULSA 38 - 20
ludawg, shame on me for making an argument against your exemplary winning % with ecu, but i just can't help but detect a whiff of possible homerism??

Lu...is it true that the 1st team offense went against the 2nd team defense and vice versa at yesterday's scrimmage?
Contrary to what's being reported by some, the 1's took snaps against the 1's for the first half of the game. The 2's came in for half the second half (beginning part), then the 3's came in for the last half of the second half, if you will. It was never the #1 offense vs the #3 defense at any point. Carden, the true freshman QB, got 20 snaps at he end of the game against the #3 defense, for example.
I noticed that Tulsa worked it a bit differently. Their true freshman QB apparently drove it down the field and stuck it in the endzone against the #1 defense. Not sure what that says.

...But just to finish that point. The 1's and 2's got the vast majority of the game snaps and those are the players you'll see on the 2 deep anyway on both sides of the football. However, the 3's and even the 4th string QB saw action on Saturday. The stats are combined for all groups.

Tulsa should be much improved this year... Phil Steele also has them as his number 1 Most Improved Team for this year list. That guy eats and sh1ts college football. Its a tough line man but im looking forward to your ECU threads every week!

Probably why the line hasn't adjusted yet and in most places has gone up from the original Tulsa -7. Loving it by the minute. game has the possibility to go over the key number +7 by kick off and what a steal that is for everyone who liked it at +7. Good Luck LV and the rest of you Tulsa backers, but my money's with the Dawg. BOL to all on this game and the rest of the up coming CFB season.

222, Saw it today at 7.5 Bookmaker or 5D , one of them was 7.5 not sure which.
If ECU @ home gets 7.5 then thats probably a fair deal. Road favs are not usually solid bets. ECU has pride and a good home crowd. They will like a dog fight with Tulsa. I imagine they will bite and chew and claw a close game.

Tulsa takes a pretty big blow to an already atrocious O-Line.

Tulsa’s Jake Alexander will miss the 2010 football season after having surgery to repair a leg injury on Friday.
Alexander was challenging for a starting position on TU’s offensive line this season. The 6-2, 274-pound true freshman played at Jenks High School and was named Tulsa’s top recruit by coach Todd Graham on signing day last February.
“It’s discouraging,” Alexander said. “Everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for me. I just have to fight through it and hopefully the best comes out of it.”
Alexander was ranked as the No. 10 center in the nation by Rivals.com coming out of high school. He is the son of former Tulsa lineman and Philadelphia Eagles center David Alexander.

Wow...didnt know you were start grasping for straws this early before the game!!! Jake Alexander is a true freshmen who was going to be a backup this year.
“The good new is that Dupy, DeShane, Grigg, Thomas and junior college transfer Eric Sproal gained valuable experience. Including senior guard Nick Gates, Anderson and Holmes, the Hurricane has eight men who started at least one game.
That gives Leftwich (OL Coach) a deeper, more experienced team to work with, and promising freshmen Jake Alexander and Stetson Burnett also may contribute.”

Now I am starting to see why the ECU offense who was struggling before Saturday's scrimmage put up so many yards!
ECU senior Wes Pittman, former walk-on wid receiver, is now going to start at LB???
"In truth, the senior linebacker who is the odds-on favorite to start on the strong side for ECU this season has turned in a body of work throughout the entire offseason that has sort of erased the odds, good or bad, that the former walk-on wide receiver would make it as a starting linebacker."
Defensive line who is replacing all 4 starters now is riddled with injuries and moving LB Marke Powell to DE!!!
"The Pirates’ young defensive line continues to grow despite being riddled with injuries."
This is what Powell was quoted on the move:
"Putting my hand on the ground is something I’m not used to, and it’s a work in progress,” Powell said. “The toughest part for me is just coming off on every play and dealing with a 300-pound offensive lineman. That’s something I’m not used to at 215 pounds."
This is absolutely hillarious!!! This will be the 3rd worst defense in CUSA behind Tulane and UTEP...ECU pass defense slipped to 107th in country last year and now they have to replace entire front 7 which included 1st Team CUSA NG Joseph, 1st Team CUSA DE Wilson, 2nd Team CUSA DT Ross, HM CUSA DE Robinson.
From CollegeFootballNews: "The number one thing to work on is:Pass defense. The Pirates took an unexpected nosedive in this area last fall (2009), sliding to 107th nationally."

Viva, I have no intent on turning this thread (or any thread of mine) into a pissing match. Please feel free to start your own thread about this game and post your thoughts there. I'm sure there will be people who are interested in hearing your perspective on the game leading up to the kickoff.

I agree with everyone saying you fade LuDawg at your own risk.
100% agree. most didnt see his unreal 35-6-1 run on ECU games last year where he bet more AGAINST ecu than on them. Would you bet against a trend thats 35-6-1?!?! I know i definitely wouldnt.
keep on killin it Lu. i can assure the faders wont be fading long .
