"UCLA -17.  Too many points for a team with too many question marks.  Prince has never taken a div. I snap.  Plus the Bruins have taken some hits among linemen getting injured in practice.  One has to assume they will only get better from last year's pathetic offense, but still too much of an unknown to lay that many points, even against a bad team. "
 
Correct.  Prince has never taken a Division 1 snap, and he will not against San Diego State.  This is not a Division 1 defense.  Thier defense goes to a 3-3-5, and two of their starting 5 in the secondary are out for 4 games or more.   Last year, this rag-tag crew gave up over 37 points per game.  Now they switch to a defensive alignment that will give UCLA RB's all kinds of room to roam.  UCLA has also owns San Diego State (6-1 ATS in Pasadena) and are 9-1 ATS in season openers.

you know me too well... and another thing i like about that Toledo bet (really a bet against Purdue)... Boilers have Oregon on deck, in Autzen stadium... if Purdue somehow covers week 1, you can get it all back by going against them in week 2...

good argument for taking small bets on both Oregon and Toledo in week 1, actually...

franchise player Randall TEX Cobb has back problems.....is probable.....but has missed a lot.....NO work at wildcat yet..

starting RB Al Smith needs orthotic shoe to run....probable with lingering foot problem

AGGIES....agree they stink.......remember play is not ON A&M.....but against Lobos.......most drastic system changes of ANY team ..6/3 starters.......AND...new HC Locksley's few resting hours are spent on defending himself against sexual /age discrimination charges (secretary)......and his resulting countersuit vs her attorney !!

This is a game I hahve been looking at for a few days now.  We all know about Illinois explosive offense.  There defense lost a few key players, but were relatively young last year.  On the other hand Missouri lost absolutley everyone besides RB (Washington) and will be in complete rebuilding mode.  Not to mention Illinois is always a hot team out of the gate that will contend in the Big Ten this year!  Lock this pick in!

This is not the official consensus thread.   I can't believe you are trying to hijack my idea.   It is capricious and arbitrary.
 
Seriously Ice, I would have to go with Minny, Oregon and Texas (by the way all three are already consensus in my system also).

The writeup for all three of these is consistent.  Big name schools in big conferences with more skilled players against mediocre small conference programs.  With Michigan, arguably the most skeptical pick, they have another season of incorporating the new players and offensive style under their belt.  As Rich Rod's recruits for a spread offense replace the players from the previous system they will be better able to tap into the benefits of their offense.

Minnesota - a bet against Syracuse, and Minnesota won't be a bad team.  Syracuse will.  Big time defections...most were lost in the depth chart...but during summer practice, there's a mental impact when you look around and see a full roster vs a depleted one.
 
A&M - a bet against UNM.  Rocky Long didn't split for no good reason.  This team is weak and depleted.  Certainly A&M has enough defense and offense to run this team over.
 
Arizona - we all know what happens when MAC teams face off early vs BCS teams.  It ain't pretty.  CMU's OL gave up the most sacks in the MAC last season (with a mobile QB, no less) and they return nothing more than question marks at OL this season.  Arizona's defense should be able to keep CMU at 28 or less.  Arizona's offense will take care of the rest.  OC Sonny Dykes has had no problem turning over QB's (TTech, anyone?) and he's got a stud to work with this season.  The Cats will run up and down the field all day on this overmatched CMU defense.

Upside... honestly, i am probably not the guy to ask, because i don't use a ton of sites... one is sportsinsights.com (i think)... good line movement information...

but there are definitely other people who can give you better info than i could... sorry bud!

Sidenote:  The Cat's new QB - Matt Scott.  Sure, it's only a Spring scrimmage, but you can see that Sonny Dykes has a stud QB to work with.

Wisconsin
1. Wins the battle in the trenches (big OL handles smaller DL).
2. Camp Randall a difficult place for opposing teams

Arizona
1. CMU 0-15 in first road game vs. BCS opponent (AVG score 42-11)
2. CMU doesn't fare well against BCS schools period
3. Zona could've been a 12-1 team last year, return 51 players from last years squad, but must get good play from new QB
