Anyone betting higher amount of units will be killed by variance and losing runs. Having one follow the other can be catastrophic for your bank.

5 or 6 games a day is not a great deal, I have double that per day in bases. It's all about betting every positive expectation bet you can find

Earning $50,000 a year off the punt is not impossible (well, not if you have an edge). As I mentioned above it is 5% ROI on $1,000,000 turnover. On a 100,000 bank this is turning over the bank 10 times in a year, or a bit less then once a month. Not impossible if you have the edge

And if you bank is less then $100,000 its advisable to use a variable bank then a constant bank. Your bank will grow faster

This is very true. I'm just pointing out the idiocy that allows many of us to make the profit we make. I don't really expect to many people to heed my advice as human nature is weak and will always fall for the allure of easy money.

I agree. I definitely see myself adopting to this method eventually but I don't have enough of a track record to define which bets hit specifically higher for me to switch to Kelly yet. I know for fact that certain plays past a certain threshold prove profitable for me, but I have not identified specific success rates beyond that yet.

Well damn... I don't see any fun at all now in (BIG TIME PROFESSIOAL GAMBLING).. it is just to much work and worry. I'm going to keep my day job, my million dollars, bet on lakers, and go to work.

i'm not a high roller by any means, but my uncle is a hollywood producer, not a big shot or anyhting but in hollywood you don't have to be a big shot to make big $.
 
Anyways, he's been gambling for fifty years, he made most of his money gambling but he always had another hustle for example, he owned movie theatres, then eventually he began producing them.
 
He told me the only way to make money was to bet on a handful of games a year (10-15) "key" games and SITUATIONS , it doesn't matter what the sport.  But when you bet you bet large.  it's called control, something i don't have.
 
anyone who says they bet EVERYDAY and comes out on top over the long haul is lying to themselves.  you may make a couple a grand if your "good" or lucky.  i've had succesful runs but how many of us can really walk away winners, LONG TERM.
 
Not saying it's impossible but 99.5% are losers.

Is this a joke? Vegas caters to recreational gamblers and shuns professionals. I don't have the time nor the interest to hire a bunch of runners to disguise themselves to place my plays at 10% juice. What a joke. Anyone betting in today's Vegas is a moron. If anything, I will move out of the country to be able to bet with Pinnacle in addition to Matchbook.

No offense, but quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You should be diversifying your plays among many with value to minimize risk. Doing 10-15 is asking to get your bankroll wiped clean.

No, you are lying to yourself. Come see me in the baseball forum and I will show you how you make money betting many games every day. Your uncle should stick to movies and stop misinforming you.

I let my record speak for itself. I want to see you in my thread on October 2 after clear 100 units and double my bankroll like I promised when I started posting. I don't know who the hell you are except for the dumb things you say.

Do you want to have a posting contest with your golden 10-15 plays a year? OK, here's what I'll do. I'll let you play any 10 plays a year at 10 units a game and you can count all my plays at 1 unit and we'll see who has a better year. The offer is on the table. Otherwise, a new Covers user and non plays poster with nothing but stupid things to say has zero credibility.

if u read my posting accurately, that's not how i claimed to gamble at all.  it was advice from my uncle, who lives in a house in beverly hills and hasn't worked a square job in his life since he's 23.
 
but if you're successful , god bless, all i'm saying is i don't believe it to be true.  i'm not a pro nor did i ever claim to be, you did, so the burden of proof is on you to prove yourself and for your sake i hope you do.
 
but calling people squares who don't earn a LIVING gambling on sporting events is foolish.  it shows a sense of insecurity on your part.  it's a tell that your success isn't as grand as you portray it.

The definition of a square is a gambler not privy to inside information and/or without the mathematical wherewithal to beat the books at their own game year in and year out. So using this definition, 95% of gamblers are squares no matter how much this might hurt people's feelings. It's still fact. Insecurity? Ha. Sounds like you're insecure to insinuate that I'm insecure. My security is what I see my bank account and Matchbook account every day. I don't get my security from Covers posters, especially those I don't know.

There is not one place on earth where I can get a rate of return even remotely resembling the one I have betting sports. It would be financial idiocy for me to invest elsewhere.

Some of the best gamblers I know are $50 - $100 bettors. They do not feel comfortable betting more, nor do they want the stress. They can beat a lot of punters in a capping contest and could very easily make a living out of this if they desired. They may only be small players, but they are not squares

I never thought any one would find out my unit size is $10. I also hope you don't see me when I drive to my trailer from my job at McDonald's in my Pinto. I would never hear the end of that.
