Penn and Teller are very misinformed and neither is very smart.  I quit listening after the second part where the "expert" they bring in talks about Genesis and then Noah's ark.  He says that in the first chapter God creates both man and woman at the same.  Well, no it doesnt.

I have the Bible in my lap, it doesn't say any such thing.  It says in Genesis 1 verse 27: "And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."

Where in does it say he created them at the same time?  It doesn't.  It only says that God created man and woman in his image.  Penn and Teller's expert claims it does.  Strike 1.

In Chapter 2 it simply goes into detail of how man and woman were created.  They were not created at the same time.  Chapter 2 explains it in verse 22.

So now that Penn and Teller have been humiliated after the first point they made, let me talk about the 2nd point, Noah's ark.  This is the last totally invalid point I will debunk using another website or 2.

    Noah's ark

    Noah's ark 2

There are also literally tens of thousands of other sources out there giving you a clear picture of how it happened.

So the first 2 points they make with their expert are totally invalid.

I'm not going further with those clowns.

This thread was not made to be a religious thread, there are other threads about religion I have posted in.  I will not respond to any more posts about religion in this thread.  I will tell you this.

There is not 1 thing in the Bible that has been dis-proven by science.

For those of you who know anything about science and don't believe in God then explain these questions.  Where did the first atom come from?  How did the electron get its negative charge and the proton its positive charge?  How did all the forces in the universe like gravity get set into motion?  The big bang had to be caused by something.  Steven Hawkins tried to give a possible explanation recently for these questions but his answer included the force of gravity as something that has always been there!  No Steven, forces do not appear out of thin air unless you have a God present.

There has to be an original creator, a God.  There is on other possible explanation for where the first "things" came from.

Science backs up what is said in the Bible.

Hey Prote-dawg, that type of logic does not apply for obvious reasons. e.g.

Who created god? Who created the universe god controls? Is that a universe among universes.

Prote-dawg forget the scriptures, we all know nothing is as good for the soul like some good ole shooting the dirt. Seems like you aren't doing enough for not doing too much. You need to up your dirt shooting percentages.

slik I am going by science.  That says every cell comes from other living cells.  Where did the first cell come from?  Well it could have come from an almost impossible perfect combination of the right atoms and molecules.  Fair enough.  But where did the first atom or particle of matter come from?  Maybe God didn't make it, but in the end there has to have been an originator.  If God didn't create the first particle of matter then he created the creator of the first particle of matter.  Or the creator of the creator.  And so on if you want to keep going, eventually you have to have an original energy, a God.  From what it says in the Bible, God created the first particle of matter.  Scientists call this the big bang.

Your logic only validates my point even more slik.  There has to be an originator.

For you to ask the question.."who created God?"  Is to admit there is a God and to at the same time contradict your admission by asking a question that reads "who created the original creator?", which makes no sense.

Guys this is my arena here, you cant shoot the dirt better than the original dirt shooter.

It creates a positive feedback loop. Well who created this. Well than who created that. The idea of an "original creator" leads to the question how did the original creator originate. You are not granted the luxury of claiming an original creator to simplify your argument. The original creator just is the original creator just doesn't have that much credibility and actually exposes the fallible nature of "original creator" logic.

And you are not given the luxury to tell me there is no original creator when there is no proof that there is no original creator.  Especially when all of science points to the concept of an original, inexplicable energy.  Science says that a big bang happened.  Ok well something had to cause the big bang.  It had to be something all powerful, all knowing, something we can't fully comprehend.  A God.

To tell you the truth, I am given the luxury of claiming an original creator without having to worry about who created this original energy, because as you know, original means first.  The first creator is the first thing that created anything.  Including the concept and actuality of "infinity".  This does not create a loop, it ends a backwards linear chain of events.  Again, the concept of an original energy is the ending of the backwards linear chain of events starting with now and ending with the creator.  In this scenario there can be no more after the creator.

You can tell me you don't believe in God, but you can't tell me my argument creates a luxury of simplifying things.  Why not?  Because I gave you some well thought out, scientifically based reasons for what I believe.  For what I believe, the concept of God ends the discussion, at least the scope of the discussion that we are having.

So we will have to leave it at that.  You don't believe in an original energy, and I do.

Human beings haven't even the slightest notion nor the ability to even conceive of the creation of life on earth. "God" is convenient for those that are unwilling to accept this. Science is gaining ground at simply understanding life.

Crocodiles know more than we do. They've only been here for 100 million years.

can I believe that god created the earth, but he did not create a hell or heaven?

can I believe that god exists and is a part of our lives and at the same time that moses/jesus/mohammed/john smith/etc. have absolutely no connection to god what so ever?

can I believe that god exists and there was and that all humans came from "adam and eve" and at the same time believe that "Adam and Steve" should have the right to get married?

Can I believe that god created everything in 6 days and rested on the 7th and that we should help in the creation process with cloning and stem cells?

and if I could believe those things...

Why would there be no other people in the USA other then myself that could believe that?

Science backs up what is said in the Bible.

proto watch the whole video....penn and teller are very intelligent......in genesis chapter one  of the kjv 1611 bible it says god created male and female nothing about the rib story...chapter talks about the rib story.....your noah's ark proof is absurd 16,000 animals rode on a 3 deck ark including the dinosaurs 4,000 years ago is not true.....the dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago.....instead of reading your kjv bible start reading some biology books

I have a minor in chemistry.  My GPA was 3.65.  I have taken many biology, anatomy, and physiology classes.  I was asked to take part in the honors program but declined because it required too much time out of my partying schedule.  Taking these college science classes strengthened my belief in a God and in particular Jesus Christ.

So what is your point about the rib story?  So what if it doesnt say anything about it in chapter 1?  It says it in chapter 2.  Read what I wrote man.  There are literally thousands of experts in boat construction of the time that will tell you it is possible for the ark to have been built.  And think about it, if God was part of it, couldn't he give it extra boost anyway?

Did you even read the sources I gave you?

This is the last I am saying about it, Penn and Teller I doubt have IQ's of over 90.

Jaysvdub you are a great person never forget that.

I am from the school of thought that the days mentioned in the Bible in the original Hebrew were actually long periods of time.  Most modern preachers are from this school of thought too.

In the original Hebrew the Yom can either represent one day or a long period of time.  Science tells us that it has to refer to a long period of time.

It's debatable but there are no dinosaurs even mentioned in the Bible other than when it tells us God created everything over millions of years in Genesis.  But dinosaurs are not mentioned in particular.  Making the ark even more feasible and making the 2nd Ark source I gave you invalid in the previous post.  Sorry it was late and I had taken my medicines.  The first ark source answers Penn and Teller's questions anyway.

Here is a source describing how Dinosaurs are not mentioned in the Bible.  God did create the Dinosaurs, and that is covered in Genesis where it tells us that he created everything that ever existed in the universe.

From the source below:  "The Hebrew is not referring to any dinosaurs."

No dinosaurs on ark unless you want to call alligators and crocodiles dinosaurs.

I agree with you there were no dinosaurs on the ark.  But there was an ark and a global flood.

My biblical knowledge is rusty so I am winging what I researched 10-15 years ago and concluded to be 100% true.  If you had asked me this stuff back then I could do much better.

pro, every boat builder I have talked to says if you believe noah started buliding the ark when he was 480 years old and finished it when he was 600 years old you realy need to change your medication dosage.....penn and teller said you need immediate help for your delusion.

This is the last I am saying about it, Penn and Teller I doubt have IQ's of over 90.
pro, every boat builder I have talked to says if you believe noah started buliding the ark when he was 480 years old and finished it when he was 600 years old you realy need to change your medication dosage.....penn and teller said you need immediate help for your delusion.

You need to up your game.  Everything you come up with is easily explained.

Explanation for long lives before the global flood versus short lives after

    Its a layup CR.

Going back to dl36's last post, you are free to believe whatever you want to believe man.

And your last question dl, I don't understand what you are asking.  Anybody can believe the same thing you do.

I don't judge atheists or people of other religions like CR does.

But when somebody attacks my religion, I will defend it and go on counterattack if needed.    Thats when you lose an argument like CR.
