I have some questions, and I want some answers:

    1) Ex4Life, Rostos, Smoothd have ALL admitted that the Bible has been edited, changed, rewritten, parts lost, etc. By comparison, if I showed you an old history book and said: "Out of 20 chapters, 8 of them are historically inaccurate because of rewrites or missing pieces," you wouldn't give the book a second look. In Ex4Life's masterpiece composition of idiocy (where he uses lines from the BIBLE to prove that the BIBLE is true, a method that would get him laughed out of even special education classes), even he admits that it's a book that's been written by 50+ authors over 1000+, not to mention we have NO IDEA what's supposed to be "metaphor" and what's "real." So:

    a) How can you trust a single word in that book when you ACCEPT that parts of it are changed from its original state?

    b) How can you use any shred of it as evidence for anything when you know parts of the book are incorrect as they were originally intended, AND that "supposively" (as SirJohnDrake might say) some of it is to be taken metaphorically?

    2) How do you justify Christianity over any other religion? How is it any more valid than say Islam, Buddhism, Scientology, Magicology, Santaology, TheWorldSprangFromAdam'sErectPenisOlogy, etc...?

    3) If you REALLY believe the world is 6,000 years old, how do you explain dinosaurs? Or ancient Egyptians? Or Mesopotamians?

    4) Why, if Christianity such a peaceful religion (and if we are all "God's children," does the Bible condone killing (a) homosexuals, (b) non-virgins, (c) for hitting one's parents, among other things?

    a) "If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives."  (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

    b) But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house.  Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.  (Deuteronomy  22:20-21 NAB)

    c) Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death.  (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

    5) Why do we have a "spiritual void" if we don't believe in Christianity? Since a huge majority of the world ISN'T Christian, are they spiritually blind as well? Are only Christians correct? This refers to question two as well.

AND IF ANYBODY TRIES TO REFERENCE THE BIBLE FOR ANY ANSWERS, YOU'RE A MORON. YOU CAN'T USE THE BIBLE AS EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS

Why do the lot of you spend all this time coming on this thread debating Christians and other theists about their beliefs in God. If you were really secure in atheism and it was all that it was cracked up to be then you would leave well enough alone. Obviously since you boys are so caught up in "proof" and "evidence". The "proof" and "evidence" shows that you guys really don't believe the crap you say and you're borderline insane for debating something that you so vehemently deny exist.

Appeal to motive is a pattern of argument which consists in challenging a thesis by calling into question the motives of its proposer. It can be considered as a special case of the ad hominem circumstantial argument. As such, this type of argument may be a logical fallacy.

Sugarbear- You're boring with me with psycho babel!!! STOP! Bottom line, if you don't believe why keep talking about it. Don't confuse yourself with the mumbo jumbo that you constantly spew out. Why keep talking over and over about something you don't believe in. Explain that lunacy first!

For the record not all Christians believe the nonsense that the Earth is 6000 years old. Don't paint everybody with the same fundamentalist brush. That's complete nonsense and since you're such an underwhelming scientific mind you should know better. But you spew this garbage to entertain you and your atheist friends. But the fact remains you hide behind the lies of atheism and it really doesn't matter about all your questions and doubts. God is and that's TRUTH friend. If you don't believe you will deal with that in your own time or God's time. Plain and simple. It's not complicated.

there's an old saying...for those who believe no explanation is needed, for those who don't, none will do.
most religeons are faith based, and faith is believing in that which CANNOT be proven, it's as simple as that

The sign of the unintelligent mind is the one that makes unsubstantiated claims. Like the 5 year old that goes "NO IT'S MINE BECAUSE IT'S MINE!." The level of intelligence is no different. If there is one thing us atheists and Rostos can agree on with 100% certainty, it's that god is NOT TRUTH because god cannot be proven with 100% certainty. And in case you never took 1st grade math, if it's not 100% (or close to it) it cannot be proclaimed TRUTH. So, allow me to adjust your statement.

God is and that's SPECULATION friend.

I enjoyed the fact that in your previous post, you first spelled babble "babel," then employed the very type of argument that I SHOWED YOU WAS INCORRECT, then gave me this answer to my five questions:

God is because he is and that's the truth.

About what I expected... next up? SJD? Rostos? Ex4Life? Five questions for you and I wait with bated breath

another simple question, if as we (catholics) are taught god is all forgiving (as evidenced by the churches position on the death penalty) doesn't that negate the theory of heaven and hell? for if god forgives all, no one would be sent to hell, not even satan himself

SJD has said to me in a previous post when I posited a hypothetical example, that an all good man who is morally righteous and charitable, but who renounces god, will be sent to hell; meanwhile, a mass murderer who repents constantly and pledges his undying faith, will be forgiven and sent to heaven.

does anyone except me find it odd that in the bible, in the book of genesis when decides to create man, he says "WE shall create him in OUR image" ?
and why did he say "let there be lite"? who was he talking to? i mean when i find it dark in here, i dont say turn on the light if i'm by myself, i simply make it brighter, without comment.

    Sugarbear you are dead wrong,

Due to archeological findings, manuscripts matching the bible (people places things), cave drawings, etc, the Bible has more validity than a lot of the crap we take as gold in our history books.

The dead sea scrolls were dated to BC and showed how very little things had been changed in the Bible. That was one of the most impressive things about it. It was dated BC,

And I say again, God doesn't wear a Tag Heuer, the Bible doesn't give an exact time on creation. Mankind who is full of mistakes that you hang your atheist hats on are the ones that try to come up with dates.

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

My issue isn't so much with the notion that there is a divine creator. It's that even if there is some mastermind, someone that sparked the big bang and what not, it is almost certainly NOT the Christian god. There are so many problems with the portrayal and description of the Christian god. So many problems with the Bible. So many inconsistencies and things the Bible says that cannot possibly be true and/or explained. If you wanna debate the existence of god, that's one thing. But to say you know the characteristics of the god that may have created it all, that's asinine.

And again I say the archeological findings have done nothing but support the Bible,

That continues to be ignored by you.

Of course there is stuff that does not make sense. Do you think our creation would be simple?

If someone would have told us 60 years ago we would be carrying around little silver rectangles that allowed us to call anyone in the world, listen to any song and access any kind of info imaginable we would have said yea right. We can't wrap our heads around some sh$t.

Explain the cave drawings in Africa detailing multiple days of darkness at the time of the crucifixion?

Your scientists have admitted an eclipse was impossible at that time and have no explanation.  To sit there and say there is absolutely nothing that supports the Bible or God is just plain arrogant, ignorant, and stupid

When you're claiming that something exists the defies the laws of physics and every logical rule we know in our world, you're gonna have to do a little better than cave drawings.

Isn't it interesting though kitty, that these guys say the methods scientists use to date rocks and things of the like are not that accurate, yet they say cave drawings can be narrowed down to an exact day lol interesting...
