Right, you know, when i see elderly woman, i have a DESIRE to kill them. I dont know why, but i do. This strong desire to kill them has always been with me, especially since i turned into an adult.
I think i was born with it, i didnt choose to be like this, i must have been born like this.
I am off now to go to the local retireman village and shoot them all.
Hey, dont blame me, it is this strong desire within me that wants to do it.
Some say there is a chemical inbalance in my brain that i was born with, therefore, it isnt my fault, i am just doing and fulfilling the desires that i was born with.....Therefore, its right.
That's right, avoid the question (we're not talking about a desire to do something)...just answer the question, when did you "chose" to be person or hetero Tell me about the time when you were looking at a male and female and said to yourself I am going to be staright or I am going to be gay?????
You can't answer it, because it never happened!

It is REASONABLE to believe in the one and only God.
Dont try and change this to debating wether the Christian God exists, from if any super being exists......
All your arguments as seen from my example are based on nothing, bit subjective emotional wish lists.....Like most atheists.
You have no standard or basis to say there is no God.
My arguments are based on reason and logic. I find it interesting that from the beginning of time people have believed in gods to make sense of the world, yet thins god is the "real" one...

When one looks at a male or female, what forces them to go after that sex? DESIRE and ATTRACTION.
I have a great desire to kill elderly woman. Just like some gays get excited when they see a male, i get excited when i see an elderly lady cause i have a great desire to kill her.
We both have desires that we cant help.
So just as it is ok for the gay to act on his, why isnt it ok for me to act on mine?
Because one is illegal by the law and the other is not?
Well what if we were under old israel law where it was also illegal to be gay?
You cant pick which desires are right and wrong, cause after all, they are desires which we cant help and because we have them, we should be allowed to act on them...
As you said you cant help your desires, and mine are killing elderly woman.
Why can the gay act on his and i cant on mine?

Which God or religion has had every prophecy fulfilled via there holy book?
Which God or religion has had the messiah come down to earth and revealed himself?
Jesus said there will be many false Gods and prophets trying to imitate God, but he is the true one.

I won't call myself anything on this matter. I have read about the different religions though.
On Christianity I find it mind-boggling that socalled Christians condemn other people - e.g. in this thread gays. If Jesus was as portrayed in the bible he surrounded himself with the outcasts/outsiders of society - e.g. person. If he was alive today I am sure he'd do the same and he'd definitely not surrounde himself with the hypocrites on the religious right.

Thats exactly right, i couldnt tell you the time i looked at a girl and said i like "them". It just was a part of me, just like when i look at elderly woman and want to kill them, i couldnt tell you the time it happened, but it was a part of me.
Both are a part of me, why is it then ok to be gay and not to murder?

have you even read the bible in its entirety? Not gone to your fav atheistic website who quote bits and pieces completely out of context from the old testament?
Even Einstein who was a renowned agnostic said when you read it there is an overwhelming feeling of Jesus which you dont get from any other book.

If you feel like this I recommend you to see a doctor. That's nothing to do with religion, god or whatever. You're mentally ill.

Yes I have, and those people from my "favorite atheistic website" have too. And not only have they read it, but they have studied it piece by piece...I would say they know the bible better than you...

Aww, but Jesus said that we need to have faith like a child. So believing in Christ is a childish one, like when I got excited when I heard "when you wish upon a star" before watching Disney. It was a fantastical world that seemed pure didn't it. I still remember it and seek that peace and excitement today. From the very start of our life, we are dependent on the love and nurturing of our parents. Pretty interesting on how it's all set up don't you think?

Another interesting concept that you should think about, in this discussion, I've noticed several of you saying how ridiculous it is that you are supposed to believe in an invisible force. Did you know that most scientists conclude, that if you continue to divide the atom, to electrons, to quarks that eventually it will ultimately be divided down to just light and energy. That means that the keyboard I'm typing on right now is "invisible" energy densely compacted together. And what about light??? what we see is light reflecting off this desk, this keyboard, etc. Hmmmmmm, there might actually be a relationship from God (or the original Power source :) and science. Hmmmm, can't be that simple can it :)

1. On Christianity I find it mind-boggling that socalled Christians condemn other people - e.g. in this thread gays.
We are not condemning anyone but were merely pointing out the laws that God has given us that we must all obey. It is God who will judge us all based on our deeds and it is He who will administer rewards or punishments come Judgment Day on people who justly deserves them.
2. If Jesus was as portrayed in the bible he surrounded himself with the outcasts/outsiders of society - e.g. person. If he was alive today I am sure he'd do the same and he'd definitely not surrounde himself with the hypocrites on the religious right.
Yes He did surround himself with the outcast, these following verses in the bible will explain why he did that.
As Jesus was walking along, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector's booth. "Follow me and be my disciple," Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him. Later, Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with such scum?" When Jesus heard this, He said, "Healthy people don't need a doctor---sick people do." Then He added. "Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices. For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners."---Matthew 9:9-13
So as you can see here Jesus surrounded himself with the outcast because they were the sinners and needed His help to become well again, in otherwords to change from their sinful ways to become righteous like the ones who were already righteous. So this one passage in the bible should help you understand why He surrounded himself with the outcast.

Sir John Drake, do you think gays can be Christians then?
Yes, anybody can become a Christian but there are 3 things you must do as outlined below in order to know Jesus personally as you Lord Savior.
1. Recognize that you are a sinner. "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard" (Romans 3:23). "As the scriptures say, 'No one is righteous---not even one' " (Romans 3:10). Because everyone is a sinner, no one deserves eternal life with God in heaven. In addition, no one can work hard enough to earn this life. Instead, God gives eternal life to everyone who believes that Jesus Christ is his Son. Before you can appreciate what Jesus has done for you, you need to recognize that you are a sinner in need of God's forgiveness. If you never acknowledge this, you will never receive God's forgiveness for your sins. And you will never enter into heaven.
2. Ask Jesus to forgive you. "Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault" (Colossians 1:22). If you reconize that you are a sinner, then you may be ready to ask Jesus to forgive you. Do you believe that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, who died to pay for your sins? If you do and you have never thanked Christ for dying for you, thank him right now in a simple prayer. Pray, "Lord, I thank you for paying for the sins I have committed. I give my life to you. Teach me the right way to live. Amen."
3. Turn away from your sins. "Those who have been born into God's family do not sin, because God's life is in them. So they can't keep on sinning, because they are children of God" (1 John 3:9). As a Christian, you may sin from time to time. But you should not continue to live a sinful lifestyle. Putting your faith in Jesus means that you are willingly turning away from you old sinful nature. It also means that you are living to please God. You can live to please God by obeying the commands he has given everyone in the Bible. If you obey God, you can be sure that you are a Christian and will one day have eternal life in heaven.

I love your knowledge of the Bible, it says that one sin isn't worth less or more than an another in the eyes of God. The truth is that we are all tremendously flawed and we do not have the right or authority to say that gays are the ones that are sinning more or less then you and I. Although I do agree with you that God made man and woman to be together, it's obvious and common sense by looking on how we are made scientifically (and emotionally, that's just an opinion) to fit together. We as humans have made evolving (not to be confused with evolution) choices that are our own decisions based on wanting to live according to our selfish desires of wanting to be our own God (Garden of Eden). Be careful how you approach this because you could come off as a prideful, judgemental churchgoer who can cause more damage than anyone else.

Hey... maybe being gay will be the new "black" in the future. This planet is overpopulated. Overpopulation is the root of all problems on Earth. If we were 3 billion people instead of 7 we'd have no problems with the environment, no shortages of any ressources and so on.
Stop reproducing. We're enough.

I think it's hilarious they're letting us have this conversation on a gambling website.
I'm like, "Go Jesus! I like Florida State -5"
Well why not? This is the general discussion forum. If we were to go on the main forums like football or baseball, they will not allow it. This forum is designated for any general topic discussions. Of course you still have to act civil about it and don't cross any forbidden lines.

Yes, ok, i have no choice, does that mean if i do it it is right?
As i said, just like the homosexual has there urges and feelings to sleep with the same sex (they didnt choose that remember) as i have the same urges and feelings to kill elderly woman (i didnt choose to feel and have those urges).
Your mantra is, if you are born with it and it is who you are, then it is ok to commit it. Fine, does that mean it is ok for me to murder elderly woman?
You have commited a fallacy of double standards here.
On one hand you are saying if you dont have the ability to chose if you are person or hetro (cause you are born with it) it is ok to comit it BUT for people who are born "mentally ill", phsyciatric illness then it is not ok to commit there murder.
Why is one ok and the other is not? Both people were born with that makeup....
Double standards

Einstein was born Jewish. He did not believe in a personal God (e.g. Jesus).
" I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one." -Einstein
Einstein was not an atheist, he believed in a Spinozas God, he believed in a God that did not concern himself in our personal lives.
He didnt believe in that because he had the assumption that the universe would be his PERFECT creation. Remember, when God created the universe, he said it was "good", NOT PERFECT.
Eisntein, like most atheists cannot understand cant get past the moral moral problems we have in the universe, like wars, hunger, murder, disease etc etc. Just like you and most atheists, they think if a God exists he would create a universe that is good morally and perfect physically.
To my beliefs, the world is simply a place where spiritual creatures like you and i can FREELY choose to either reject God or accept him and live with him for eternity.
You cant make this choice in a universe where ALL the moral choices are good ones.
Eisntein didnt understand that you cant choose between good and bad if bad didnt exist.
Einstein was a brilliant scientist, but philosophically, he was just like the average person.
