The major problem of the atheist is that they dont understand the gravity of sin. They think it is not a big problem, where in fact it is the BIGGEST problem. Sin is what seperates us from God, Sin is what distorts our vision from us seeing God.This stems from man determing what is right and wrong, man doesnt want to be told how to act, man determining what is right or wrong, man wanting to fulfill there sinful desires. Just like this thread, it is stated homosexuality is a sin, yet system and co thhinks, who is God to say homosexual is wrong, after all they think they were born with it, even if they were, it is ok to act on it, who is God to say what is right or wrong, i am bigger and better than God. Thats the attitude, good on you while you are on this earth, remember, you wont be on this eatrh forever which people tend to forget from time to time. D Day will arrive for EVERYONE, the question is will you be ready? Until atheists continue to have such a view, they will always be confused. Pride is the biggest obstacle for non believers. Man is the only creature that refuses to be what he is.

You didn't even get the verse right, that whole story was about David becoming king and being jealous of him and trying to kill him.  Like just admit you are 100% wrong.

I responded to your post.
No where in the 10 commandments does it say to kill anyone - quite the opposite, it says"thou shalt not kill"
Jesus instructed those of us who proclaim to be Christians to follow to the10 commandments.  Your pulling an obscure verse from Leviticus doesn't really apply to Christians - especially today.

Wouldn't you agree, or would you rather continue having a discussion that meets your intellectual level?

Oh, but you do, or you wouldn't bring up muslims. I don't know where Jesus teaches it, but I do believe the KKK  bases their beliefs on a religious foundation in Christianity...

Nothing to ignore, you're not getting the point. sdj and rostos are basing homosexuality being a sin on the old testament. But when I bring up that it says to kill homosexuals, sdj comes up with, oh thats just for the Israelites. So to me that means that the 10 commandments were only for the Israelites too, and does not apply to today. I love how they pick and choose.

Whether or not Jesus instructed Christians to follow the 10 commandments is another discussion. And for me, until you give me some sources outside the bible, there's no discussion...Does that meet your intellectual level?

My problem with the whole Homosexual thing is many fold.  I have asked for an explanation many times but so far the Christians in this thread have not supplied it. I ask in all sincerity.
1) Why do some Christian believe in Jesus Churches accept homosexuality openly and even have gay ministers?
2) What did Jesus say about gays?
3) Why are we using this updated version of the bible to quote Levicticus? In the King James version it never mentions homosexuality.
4) Is it possible and I mean is it possible that some humans in the Church, who suffer from sin,(remember they are human) have an agenda against the gay population and have changed the bible to  fit this agenda.

Now I ask these questions in all sincerity. I have trouble with religion but truly wish to understand better.
That said, I am really happy with the explanation I read on this original thread  question in the book "Heaven is for Real".
I thought that guy gave a really good explanation of the sacrifice of Christ.
So I ask this again and urge you to consult with your theologians and other experts as these questions really puzzle me.

I am not muslim so why do i care about muslim beliefs?

All what you do is mention a few suicide bombers OR any one who kills then tells people it was because of there religion.

If you want to believe that then that is upto you. That is exactly what satin wants you to believe...

We will never agree because he thinks the bible is to be read in the one lense. He doesnt understand that the bible is a collection of books, poems, parables, facts all in one. He seems to have trouble understanding that different genres of books can be collected and put in one book.

apparently where it says "you should cut off your right hand if it causes you to sin", means literally, carry a knife with you and cut of your right hand when you hit someone....

Why argue with someone who has that logic?

Again like I said in my last post, I know a lot of people misinterpret the bible, especially those who are atheists and never had any kind of bible study classes and so when they read something right off the bat they misinterpret what they are reading.

So for you to say the things that bother us Christians today applied in the old days and the things that still make sense now apply now is a typical confused point of view of an atheist perspective. 

 Let me try to explain as thorough as I can be so hopefully you'll understand.

Jesus Christ said, "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God's law will disappear until its purpose is achieved. So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God's laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven." ---Matthew 5:17-19

So in otherwords Jesus didn't come to us to amend or change any laws that were written in the Old Testament. All of the laws that God handed down to Moses which includes the Ten Commandments and laws like forbidden sexual practices still stands. However the punishments for disobedience were direct instructions to Moses to carry out and should not be confused by one thinking God wants us to carry out those punishments today too...no, no, no!!! This is how people can get in serious trouble today by misinterpreting the bible.

It is like a military commander who gives a direct order to a subordinate to carry out. If someone else sees the order it is not for them to carry out. Only the subordinate who received the order has the authority to carry it out. And yes God said thou shalt not kill but when He gives a direct order that is the only time where killing is permitted and this killing by the authority of God is justified because it is a killing or punishment for disobedience which to God is a serious capital offense.

So I hope this explanation helps you to see a different point of view and not be so cynical of Christians. Have a nice, glorious day!

u were made in the image of god. thats not some magic old man in the sky, thats extra terrestrials, we look like THEM. and no we didn't evolve into being.

ET's terraformed a planet and engineered a solar system, and stayed to guide us, then sent someone we now call jesus to guide us spiritually, he left, "resurrected", we made religion out of it and manipulated the fuk out of it, (jesus taught of reincarnations, not heaven and hell)

now we're in a state of quarantine until they decide the time is right to return and make all out contact.

Ok so I think I got it.
Jesus did not take the time to tell his followers directly that homosexuals were sinning. It must not have been that important to him. Cool.
He did state that we should keep the OT in hand. The OT though has been changed from it's original version. Now, when the people are changing the interpretation of the bible, I wonder who is giving them the new interpretation of the original Hebrew? Let us look at what the famous verse really said before the Church got a hold of it and um, corrected it.
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind, it is an abomination"
Why the need to change the thing to include all  homosexuality?
We could not let the lesbians get off (so to speak) I guess.

At the end of the day, the book is open to interpretation. For now, I am sticking with the love thy neighbor one.
