Wrong, plain wrong. You cant talk aout something, then when a counter claim is made against it, then all of a sudden simply say "it doesnt even exist", so why talk about it in the first place?

What on earth are you talking about?
I'm baaaaaaaa-aaaaaaack. I see both sides are still at it..excellent.
I'm just glad we live in a day and age where I can either choose to believe or not, and won't be killed for my own personal belief. When I was young, I was dragged kicking and screaming to church and "church-school." Even as a child my common sense won out and I realized that these were all just passed-down stories originally fabricated by "Man" that 1) provided a guideline for how to coexist with other people so society doesn't fall into complete chaos and 2) gave certain people hope that there is something beyond this world.
I have no issue if someone chooses to believe in aliens, vampires or god. I choose to believe in scientific facts. For those of you who believe in ANY religion, it would be better for you to say something like "I believe in X god, I can't prove it exists, but I have faith, that's all any believer can really have." I would be OK with that statement. But you have people on here with the audacity to assume they know god's plan. That is pure insanity to me. Like the whole concept of the people who died prior to Jesus who weren't aware of Jesus. How can you presume to KNOW 100% that their souls get to go to Heaven because god forgives them? You're just making stuff up to help your argument. Or, you say you know it because it's written in some biblical text somewhere. So, just because some guy wrote that, that gives you absolute proof that that's god's intention? That doesn't make any rational sense. Does that mean that I can claim to be the word of god and insert my own chapter into the bible?
There were plenty of other religions and beliefs at the time of Jesus. Maybe the timing was just right for a major overhaul of superstition and Christianity surpassed many of the weaker religions. Maybe it appealed more to the people of that time then what they were currently thinking. Still doesn't make any of it real. Christianity itself is just a hodgepodge of prior pagan religions, all the main themes are there. But the devout believers casually discard that fact, they don't want to hear the truth. They think there was nothing, that people worshipped the sun, then Jesus came and BOOM now we have the world's first and only religion.
I can understand why early man needed religion, to explain the unknowable...but we've since made extraordinary discoveries, and religion just can't keep up. Every scientific breakthrough pushes religion further out the door. Yet believers still cling to it. No matter what science says, the believers' comeback is always "well, that's because god wants it that way, and you can't disprove that." Fine, I guess you win. But if you're going to believe in god you might as well also believe in dragons, elves and hobbits, cuz really it's all the same. I could say a giant reptile created the universe and you can't disprove that either.
I also think it takes huge balls to envision your god as a human looking thing. Really? Only mankind could be that egotistical. I could just see some ancient caveman sowhere thinking "hmm, I'm terrified of dying...I know, I'll imagine that when I die, if I've been good, I get to go to a good place, and all my loved ones will be there and we'll be together forever. And the being in charge of it all looks just like me, too. And I can ask him for things when I get in trouble and he'll help me out." And then that basic concept got around and became the groundwork for all the superstitions that came afterward.
If anything, I'm way way more humble than you believers. I think life on this planet is pure biological accident. We're not special. Most likely we'll die out at some point and some new lifeform will become the dominate species, as has happened many times during the history of this planet. Maybe if there was just Earth and the sun and NOTHING else I would admit that there has to have been a creator. But there are over 150 billion galaxies out there, each with countless stars. The numbers are too overwhelming to support the creator belief anymore.

Thanks System. I'm not eloquent enough to give my statements proper justice, but you know what I mean.
I work in business, surrounded by conservative minded people, many of whom are religious, or claim to be. They go to church, say they believe in god, etc. But what I find funny is how many religious-types out there really don't practice what they preach. I mean, during the day they're chasing dollars, driving sick cars, living in big expensive homes. That's all well and good, but if you really REALLY believed...wouldn't you give it all away? How can you have both a high net worth and still claim to be religious? Shouldn't they be doing humanitarian work around the planet?
You can't be half in on your religion. The same way it's comical when a multi-million dollar athlete thanks Jesus when they perform well. That's pretty convenient...so he's there....for YOU...when you do something nice. Shouldn't that person return the favor and give all his money to charity?
I'm sure there will be some excuse about how it's ok to be rich and successful and still be religious. But really what's going on is these "believers" don't really believe. They use it when it's convenient for them. It was tought to them by parents or society and they're either too scared or stubborn to admit that they really don't think there is a higher power. It's very irksome. I feel like most of them want to say "yea, even though I consider myself Catholic I really don't believe there is a god...it's just, you know, my grandma took me to church and I'd feel bad if I came right out and said what I really feel, so I kind of half-ass it and go through the motions, but yea, at the end of the day I'm just a perverted dawg who thinks about tits all day and only cares about my own family and bank account just like everyone else."

I agree 100% Club.
And the whole idea of Heaven is weird to me, like I don't get it. So you get in just by saying you have faith and being sorry for your sins. Sooooo, then potentially Hitler could be there? So I have to sit around for eternity with his ass? There's like 6 or 7 billion people on the planet NOW, that shit must be overcrowded like a motherfucker considering all the billions who have already died. So I'm good, and I get there...and I get to see all my dead relatives, and my dead grandma who, I guess was, what, watching me jerk it to porn? That's awkward. And all the people I hate, now we're all brothers and we all get along? What do we do for eternity? Sounds hyper-boring to me.

Lets go through some of these popular atheistic thoughts about God / Religion which couldnt be more wrong.
1. Many here seem to think that Christians can do whatever they want, when they want and how they want and as long as they believe, will go to Heaven no matter what.
Where does the bible promise do what you want, how you want and where you want, and you are going to heaven? Where? Do you honestly think, you can do whatever you want and as long as you believe in God you are guaranteed? Why do atheists think this? Why? It simply shows you dont know Christianity.
2. The actions of people in the church somehow prove that God exists or doesnt. If a priest is a pedophile, does that mean God doesnt exist? If a priest uses church funds to drink and gamble, does that mean God doesnt exist? I would like to see a connection. People like Club dirt in particular, jump all over priests or people in Christianity who "act contrary to their belief".
I would like to know, are you morally perfect human beings? Are Priests human beings are like you?
3. Science proves God doesnt exist. THink of this statement carefully. How has Science proved God doesnt exist? Has science shown or proved why something exists rather than nothing? Has science shown or proved that life can come from non life? These are lifes deepest questions. If you are all intelligent as many of you claim to be, you will know that the LATEST scientific discoveries and findings IN FACT further open the door to Gods existence.
4. People believe because they are afraid of dying...I mean, really? So, all theists are scared and all atheists are mavericks? Really? Why is it that when many people find they have a life threatening disease they stop believing in God? After all, they are on deaths doors and if any time they want to believe, it would be then, but they go the opposite way? Why?
Believing because you are afraid of death is one of the most stupid things i have heard.
4. If one religion is false, then they are all false. Really? So if Islam is false, then all other religions are false? How so?
I will jot down more later

How so?
I will jot down more later
, you will know that the LATEST scientific discoveries and findings IN FACT further open the door to Gods existence.
Can you cite the source/discovery? I'm all ears and eyes. (Something tangible preferred).

1. Astrophysics.Look at the latest Cosmological studies which shows ALL the evidence we have that the universe actually began to exist. Many Atheists like to think that the universe was eternal, thereby alleviating the need for a beginning, thus a creator.
2. Biology. Look at the attempts to create life from non life. Despite repeated attempts over the last 50 years under various conditions in labs, scientists have not only not been able to find a mechanism , but have actually found the absurd probabilties of life coming non life. To put this in perspective, the odds are greatly more in my favour of me beating Kevin Durant and Lebron James in a game of 2 on 1 than life coming from non life...

"Science disproves God"
At a meeting of scientists – titled “State of the Universe” – convened last week at Cambridge University to honor Stephen Hawking’s 70th birthday, cosmologist Alexander Vilenkin of Tufts University in Boston presented evidence that the universe is not eternal after all, leaving scientists at a loss to explain how the cosmos got started without a supernatural creator. The meeting was reported in New Scientist magazine (Why physicists can’t avoid a creation event, 11 January 2012). I’ve quoted a few brief highlights below.

No shit? That is definitely breakthrough information. Certainly would befuddle any scientist.
Keep the laughs coming mate, slow night over here.

So, Cosmologists spending most of their lives as to the origins of the universe is NOT a break through event?
Let me guess, the universe came from nothing by nothing for nothing?
