Agent Cooper, what scientific facts? you mean the ones another human has told you
It really is funny to watch each side they they are right, when nobody on this planet knows the answer. It downright cracks me up.
I say to both sides believe whatever you want, just know your side might not be right and it might not be wrong. Just dont believe or not believe because another human said so
Think about it, whatever stuff scientists come up with, there is still no way for them to prove God didnt create that stuff and no way for them to prove that he did.

Thanks System. I'm not eloquent enough to give my statements proper justice, but you know what I mean.
I work in business, surrounded by conservative minded people, many of whom are religious, or claim to be. They go to church, say they believe in god, etc. But what I find funny is how many religious-types out there really don't practice what they preach. I mean, during the day they're chasing dollars, driving sick cars, living in big expensive homes. That's all well and good, but if you really REALLY believed...wouldn't you give it all away? How can you have both a high net worth and still claim to be religious? Shouldn't they be doing humanitarian work around the planet?
You can't be half in on your religion. The same way it's comical when a multi-million dollar athlete thanks Jesus when they perform well. That's pretty convenient...so he's there....for YOU...when you do something nice. Shouldn't that person return the favor and give all his money to charity?
I'm sure there will be some excuse about how it's ok to be rich and successful and still be religious. But really what's going on is these "believers" don't really believe. They use it when it's convenient for them. It was tought to them by parents or society and they're either too scared or stubborn to admit that they really don't think there is a higher power. It's very irksome. I feel like most of them want to say "yea, even though I consider myself Catholic I really don't believe there is a god...it's just, you know, my grandma took me to church and I'd feel bad if I came right out and said what I really feel, so I kind of half-ass it and go through the motions, but yea, at the end of the day I'm just a perverted dawg who thinks about tits all day and only cares about my own family and bank account just like everyone else."

This has run into many problems...
Disorder increases with time. So following each cycle, the universe must get more and more disordered. But if there has already been an infinite number of cycles, the universe we inhabit now should be in a state of maximum disorder. Such a universe would be uniformly lukewarm and featureless, and definitely lacking such complicated beings as stars, planets and physicists – nothing like the one we see around us.
One way around that is to propose that the universe just gets bigger with every cycle. Then the amount of disorder per volume doesn’t increase, so needn’t reach the maximum. But Vilenkin found that this scenario falls prey to the same mathematical argument as eternal inflation: if your universe keeps getting bigger, it must have started somewhere.

If God exists, why does he have to be proven by science? Ie, isnt it possible in any world where God exists and he is not detectable by science?

I'm an agnostic atheist from what I read and studied.
Something that cannot be seen is either not detected by our 5 senses because the light at the other end of the universe has not reached us or it's imagination.
The arguments I seen between atheists and theists have been based on that world view. 5 senses vs imagination.
I say, if believing in God helps you get through live, you have that right. If you do not believe in God because of scientific physical evidence, you have that right as well.

Rostos, go back to post #241. You've got to be kidding me.
You want evidence that Christianity was a story fabricated by man? Seriously? It's comical that you yourself have said god is unknowable and will never be proved by science to exist, and here you are asking for statistical evidence. Convenient how for YOUR argument you need no evidence whatsoever, but when I make a point you demand proof.
Who is guaranteed of going to heaven or hell? Well, I believe SJD in one of his posts gave us the "answer" to that. I believe he quoted some text written by man that explained that god forgives all the souls that weren't aware of him prior to Jesus. Some foolish nonsense like that.
Do you really need evidence (again, you demanding proof and evidence is hysterical) that there were other beliefs and religions prior to Christianity?? Look into some of the older religions and you'll see how they influenced Christianity...the idea of a son of god, virgin birth, heaven, hell, etc...that stuff was around long before Jesus.
You think science hasn't made extraordinary discoveries? This one blows my mind. So you think our standard of living is the same as it's been since Jesus' time? Get real bro...how many new things have been discovered in just the past 10 years? Or 100 years, or 1,000 years?? I don't have the strength to argue this one. You either understand that we've grown more intelligent or you don't. But I would think the basic concept that a human's lifespan has grown from like 40 years to 90 years over the past few centuries would be proof of our increasing scientific breakthroughs...
Anyway, I hope more people will rely less on religion and more on their own common sense. Religion has been less and less relevant ever since Copernicus and Galileo laid the smack down on all the mindless drone believers. I just can't believe it's taken so long for religion's crusty outdated snarled fingers to loosen it's grasp on the psyche of men.

There is actually growing support for the theory that the universe just always was and each "big bang" gives birth to a new universe. I will admit I do not fully understand the physics behind it, but the general crux of the theory is that the universe simply always was.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does God exist? The universe had a start - what caused it?
Scientists are convinced that our universe began with one enormous explosion of energy and light, which we now call the Big Bang. This was the singular start to everything that exists: the beginning of the universe, the start of space, and even the initial start of time itself.
Astrophysicist Robert Jastrow, a self-described agnostic, stated, "The seed of everything that has happened in the Universe was planted in that first instant; every star, every planet and every living creature in the Universe came into being as a result of events that were set in motion in the moment of the cosmic explosion...The Universe flashed into being, and we cannot find out what caused that to happen."
Steven Weinberg, a Nobel laureate in Physics, said at the moment of this explosion, "the universe was about a hundred thousands million degrees Centigrade...and the universe was filled with light."
The universe has not always existed. It had a start...what caused that? Scientists have no explanation for the sudden explosion of light and matter.
(I have an explanation: It was God Almighty the Creator who set off the sudden explosion of light and matter.)

I quoted a passage in the Holy Bible, which is the Word of God. Let me rewrite that passage again and then add a little bit more to help all to understand because it appears what you wrote above sounds like you're saying only those prior to Jesus will be saved and not punished and so you still don't understand or misunderstood what I said previously.
"For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding His blood.
This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when He held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for He was looking ahead and included them in what He would do in this present time.
God did this to demonstrate His righteousness, for He Himself is fair and just, and He declares sinners to be right in His sight when they believe in Jesus." ---Romans 25-26 NLT
So yes, because God is fair and just, He did not punish those sinners prior to Jesus but now everyone after Jesus, who have heard of Him, has to repent their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord Savior while here living in the flesh on earth. If they do that they will not be punished but will be rewarded eternal life in paradise in God's Kingdom of Heaven.
Anyone who doesn't accept Jesus Christ as their Lord Savior while here living in the flesh on earth will suffer the punishment of God which is eternal damnation in hell.
Now is that thoroughly clear or do I have to keep saying the same things over and over? You (AgentCooper) and RJSmith so far are the ones that are having problems comprehending what I post. I don't know why, I'm using plain simple english that even a 3rd grader could understand.

Does God exist? The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today.
Many examples showing God's design could be given, possibly with no end. But here are a few:
The Earth...its size is perfect. The Earth's size and corresponding gravity holds a thin layer of mostly nitrogen and oxygen gases, only extending about 50 miles above the Earth's surface. If Earth were smaller, an atmosphere would be impossible, like the planet Mercury. If Earth were larger, its atmosphere would contain free hydrogen, like Jupiter. Earth is the only known planet equipped with an atmosphere of the right mixture of gases to sustain plant, animal and human life.
The Earth is located the right distance from the sun. Consider the temperature swings we encounter, roughly -30 degrees to +120 degrees. If the Earth were any further away from the sun, we would all freeze. Any closer and we would burn up. Even a fractional variance in the Earth's position to the sun would make life on Earth impossible. The Earth remains this perfect distance from the sun while it rotates around the sun at a speed of nearly 67,000 mph. It is also rotating on its axis, allowing the entire surface of the Earth to be properly warmed and cooled every day.
And our moon is the perfect size and distance from the Earth for its gravitational pull. The moon creates important ocean tides and movement so ocean waters do not stagnate, and yet our massive oceans are restrained from spilling over across the continents.

Fact: Man created God in his own image.
The original phrase was made from delusion, deception and ignorance of science.
Another assertion without any evidence given to back up their claim. WOW, this page is full of people posting statements without giving any evidence to support their statement.

When did i say science hasnt made extraordinary discoveries? Of course science has done some wonderful things,. If you read it properly, i said how has science disproved God? Tell me, HOW?
Anyway, I hope more people will rely less on religion and more on their own common sense. Religion has been less and less relevant ever since Copernicus and Galileo laid the smack down on all the mindless drone believers. I just can't believe it's taken so long for religion's crusty outdated snarled fingers to loosen it's grasp on the psyche of men.
I am not about Religion, i am about following the gospel. 2 very very different things.
Give me evidence that the Gospel writers were liars...
Who is guaranteed of going to heaven or hell? Well, I believe SJD in one of his posts gave us the "answer" to that. I believe he quoted some text written by man that explained that god forgives all the souls that weren't aware of him prior to Jesus. Some foolish nonsense like that.
No one is guaranteed.
LOL, that Zeitgestt movie? Like it said the bible borrowed the notion that the messiah was born on the 25th of Dec? Where does the bible say that Christ was born on the 25th? Who else before Christ claims of a virgin birth? Man, seriously, you believe that that movie?
You think science hasn't made extraordinary discoveries? This one blows my mind. So you think our standard of living is the same as it's been since Jesus' time? Get real bro...how many new things have been discovered in just the past 10 years? Or 100 years, or 1,000 years?? I don't have the strength to argue this one. You either understand that we've grown more intelligent or you don't. But I would think the basic concept that a human's lifespan has grown from like 40 years to 90 years over the past few centuries would be proof of our increasing scientific breakthroughs...

If God exists, why does he have to be detectable by science? Is our realm the only one? If science doesnt detect another realm, does that mean it doesnt exist?
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence...

Another assertion without any evidence given to back up their claim. WOW, this page is full of people posting statements without giving any evidence to support their statement.
