Agreed my friend.
Yup, LVL. And as of this post, it's not even that close.
Congrats on your POM.
Like I said: If you wanted to do just for the month of June…sure. If, however, we are talking about the whole season so far…
11-3 w/ 1.89 ERA vs. 9-5 w/ 2.66 ERA
… not so much.

Cliff Lee, even though he had an insane June, still is sitting at a 9-5 record w/ a 2.66 ERA. Great numbers no doubt, but it’s no 11-3 w/ a 1.89 ERA.
Ryan Vogelsong: good numbers but is not qualified.
Matt Cain has a 7-4 record with the 25th lowest ERA. I’m not quite sure why he is even being discussed at this point.

He’s definitely been the best in AL recently, but I’m still kind of on the fence between him and Weaver for the season.
Slight edge to Verlander though.

Jair Jurrjens will enter the All Star break with a 12-3 record and a 1.87 ERA.
Only 3 times in the past 20 seasons a major league pitcher entered the All Star break with 12 or more wins and an ERA below 2.00.
Those pitchers were:
Randy Johnson 2000
Greg Maddux 1998
Roger Clemens 1997
Johnson and Clemens won the Cy Young those seasons.

Last I checked the Phillies bullpen wasn’t too shabby and they also have a better offense.
I can recall multiple times Halladay has been in line for a loss and the Phillies scored multiple runs in the 9th or later to get him off the hook.
I can’t recall a single time that’s happened to JJ.
Judging from your post you are probably ignorant to this, but Jurrjens started the season on the DL. He should be penalized for not pitching as many innings as the guys that have two or more starts than he does?
IF you want to be fair about it:
Jair Jurrjens is averaging 7 IP per start
Cliff Lee is averaging 7 IP per start
Cole Hamals is averaging 7 IP per start
Roy Halladay is averaging 7 2/3 IP per start
Of course that’s just IF you wanted to be fair about it.

I’ve been hearing that for over a month (especially from wishful phillies homers).

Your anger and frustration is understandable. Pretty much all the “experts” told you your team would win the NL East with ease, but no matter how many games you win, the Braves keep right on your heels.
Also you were told that you had one of the best pitching staffs in the history of the sport, yet a team with half your payroll has virtually the same, if not better, numbers.
Lighten up, Francis. All that hate is going to burn you up.

That’s your case for why Jurrjens is “not that good”? The team that’s 3 games back of your team is a “joke of a team”?
Wow, what a compelling argument.

look at lees strike out to walk ratio.
no doubt JJ is having a really nice year. easily gonna be a 20 game winner and his era is sick !

All the Phillies have good SO/BB ratios.
