The Harder They Fall (1956) "film noir" about the boxing "racket" in the 1950's it is a pretty good story about the corruption back then. is famous for being Humphrey Bogart's last movie roll before his death in 1957. also stars Rod Steiger and Nehemiah Persoff. unknown actor Mike Lane play the big but withno talant Argentinian boxer Toro Moreno who was loosly based on the Italian "stiff" Primo Carnera. boxers Jersey Joe Walcott plays Toro's trainer George while Max Baer plays his final oppenent Buddy Brannen. I think it is an excellent story and one of Bogie's best. it is obviously NOT The Petrified Forest (1936), High Sierra (1941), The Maltese Falcon (1941) Casablanca (1943), the Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948), The African Queen (1951) or The Caine Mutiny (1954) BUT I would put it right after those. IF you like boxing stories you will enjoy this one. played on Turner Classic Movies and hopefully repeats soon. as a Bogie classic I rate it
