The bulk of all time greatest albums came from the late 60's to the early 80's. I don't think you'll get any majority to say that anything by Jane's Addiction or the Flaming Lips belongs on an "All Time greatest albums" list. I like some stuff by both but not enough to consider them in a top list. All of our opinions are different. Although our tastes probably overlap more than we know, we'll always differ on who/what we believe to be "The Best".

This is my #1 as far as punk albums as well.... however, it is dead-lock tied with Frankenchrist by The Dead Kennedy's... in my opinion, no other Punk band exemplified the spirit of intelligent counterculture like Jello and his crew... and with Frankenchrist coming to bat when the PMRC first pitched their bullshit.... WOW... this album is WAY IMPORTANT... however, Never Mind the Bullocks (along with maybe Raw Power by Iggy & The Stooges) helped to revolutionize the SOUND of punk rock... but as far as the message.... I challenge ANYONE to come up with a more important voice in Punk/Political history than Jello Biafra and The Dead Kennedy's...

Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland, nothing is even close. Nothing to do with the other albums but Jimi was/is just too great, not one song too slow, every song has a perfect tempo and he was able to play notes that nobody could.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John, he is a damn fine artist
Let It Bleed - TRS
Animals - Pink Floyd, some of their other albums get alittle slow.
Disraeli Gears - Cream, and exceptional band.
Undertow - Tool, people like Aenima but I like this the best.
Zep IV is the most polished but Zep II is my favorite.
LA Woman - The Doors, lots of great songs that most don't hear.
Sgt Pepper - Like Pink Floyd, some of their albums get slow but they are awesome nonetheless
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gold and Platinum - awesome southern rock band, more bar band type than The Allman Brothers.

Frankenchrist is a great album, but ya gotta love them all... from Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables (what a GREAT album title) to Give me Convenience or Give Me Death... all good shit...

I just came across the top 500 albums according to Rolling Stone. My choice, Dark Side of the Moon, is #43...are you fucking kidding me? Anyone else think #43 is way off?
On anothe note, #4 on that list is giving Dark Side of the Moon a run for its money lately in my view. Every single song on that album is great.

Secondly, I like your album choices... Jane's Addiction... wow... WHAT A BAND... in my opinion, one of the best of the post 70's era... although I think that Nothing's Shocking is the album that really shows their artistic merit... "Ted... Just Admit it..." is one of the greatest songs EVER... and then they followed with the Ritual album... "Three Days" is a song that blows my mind... shit... I am going to go listen to Jane's right now!
